In his book prospects are sure things, so you should move proven guys for prospects and "lock up the position" long term.

I listed 8 pitchers and said "The Astros 2023 rotation will probably include at least 5 and probably 6 of these names." Nobody is a sure thing. At least read the post before you pee on it.

Hopefully he’s okay. Not good. Pulled last minute before his start.

His suit has been quite enjoyable. Only real question is, why was he never let go?

The umpire union flat out OWNS MLB.

There is no accountability for anything umpires do.

I'd still like to see referees and umpires have to face the media after games. Players and managers do it (mostly). They admit when they screw up (Dusty did it just a week or two ago).

The umpires are accountable as you can see in MLB's response to Angel Hernandez. They just aren't accountable to fans with respect to getting fired or fined or suspended except in egregious situations (generally regarding misapplication of the rules).

Robo umps will take Hernandez out of the loop soon. I guess then the only significant judgement calls left are check swings. Hernandez will probably be the reason why check swings get monitored by computers in a few years. He'll call a 10% swing a swinging strike or a 75% swing a non-swing just to stay in the headlines.

Hernandez is just a symptom of the of the ridiculous relationship between MLB and its associated unions. The only one I have seen that is worse is actors equity association. They wield absolute power in the theater business. Bringing such unions back under control will be a long and nearly impossible task without a sea change in thinking of owners and managers in those industries, or a financial disaster that nobody wants to see.

When you seek power through an association, soon the association executive become the new boss and worse than the old boss to work for.

I prefer not credible. But everybody is entitled to an opinion, even when it's wrong.

Orioles have been a great story. They’d be in first place in the AL Central. They remind me a bit of the 2015 Stros. Bright future ahead. They need pitching (who doesn’t), but man they could be a scary team for years to come. Certainly came together sooner than I expected. Kind of sucks for them that they have to battle it out in the AL East every year.

What's going on is the NYY division lead continues to shrink.

5 games. 5 more with TB.

Couldn’t agree more. Between the level of blue chip talent they have and the new schedule system next year, I’m taking the over on whatever their win projections are and wouldn’t be surprised if they straight up win the AL east.
