Nah, the impeached man who made 60 crazed tweets yesterday morning on his propaganda site tweets too much.
I wouldn't be surprised either. Not one bit. All I know is his lying lawyer who said they returned all the documents could also be facing charges now.
I don’t see how u go through all this effort…gather all this evidence…invite all this scrutiny…just to not indict this isn’t some “oopsies, I accidentally took some classified documents home with me that I didn’t even know about while I was leaving office ” situation if all this can’t even get an indictment, I don’t ever want to hear about a Trump crime or investigation again because I will truly not give a fck…Why should I when y’all aren’t serious?
It would be the most clear cut message that the law doesn't really apply to everyone, I could imagine. That's a horrible message to send. I hope the DOJ shows that the law does apply. That being said, I won't be certain until we see the indictment.
Based on page 10 of the governments response to Trumps motion for a special master, it would appear that trump hid the classified docs from his lawyers. The DOJ said there was evidence of obstruction, including the fact that boxes containing classified info were not in the storage room when trumps counsel reviewed for due diligence. There are two possibilities: (1) trumps lawyers did a lousy job of reviewing the boxes in the storage room,or didn’t bother to do it, relying on Trumps assertion that there’s nothing more there, or (2) trumps lawyers did a full review of all boxes in the storage room, found nothing classified, certified that to the DOJ, but that was because Trump hid the classified documents from his own lawyers. The DOJs filing strongly suggests #2 happened. If so, Trumps lawyers are not in legal jeopardy. It will be tricky as hell for them to explain what happened. On the other hand, will trump lie and try to throw his lawyers under the bus? Of course he would, but what evidence does DOJ have proving that the boxes were taken out of the storage room so that Trumps lawyers would not find them? Video? A whistleblower under Trumps nose? In this application for a special master, I have no idea whether the court procedure would allow for an evidentiary hearing, but I would love the presiding judge to hold an evidentiary hearing to ask Trumps lawyers to describe in detail the review they conducted underlying their certification that there were no more classified documents. Trumps lawyers have cited equity as a basis for appointing the special master. An equitable factor could be the diligence conducted by Trumps team. CF lawyers - does anyone know whether this could be part of the special master application process? @Nook @StupidMoniker @bobrek
Trump Hires Former Florida Solicitor General, Chris Kise, as Lawyer in Documents Case in contrast to Trump's legal team of pretenders, Kise is a real lawyer; Kise has extensive experience with major trials and appeals and has successfully argued four Supreme Court cases. Kise, described as a “fixture in Florida Republican politics,” comes from the firm Foley and Lardner. As of Tuesday morning, Kise was no longer listed on the firm’s website. For Kise’s services, Trump will have to pay on his own. A person familiar with the matter confirmed that the Republican National Committee is not paying for Trump’s legal fees related to the FBI’s investigation and retrieval of documents at Mar-a-Lago. That’s a departure of sorts from the past. The RNC has, for example, paid for Trump’s legal bills involving New York Attorney General Tish James’ investigation into the former president’s private businesses. The committee would stop paying Trump’s legal fees should he formally declare his candidacy for president in the 2024 election — a step he has hinted at but has yet to take.
especially when they have this much evidence this ain’t some shaky case based off hearsay…Trump has been caught in 4k
Tell you what, thank goodness for the whistle blower(s), without there help they might not have such a solid case.........if there name(s) are ever revealed I hope they get some personal protection as you will have the entire maga base and half the gop going after them hot and heavy, there life would be ruined. There info was spot on so far...........I just wonder who it is, staff maybe?
I know of at least one journalist who has already filed a FOIA request for the documents. If they are declassified we can all read every single thing in them. Hilarious that he feels like he can get away with that. The other thing is that even if they were all declassified, they still don't belong to him and it would still be a crime.
Sadly, in a way, he's the most American president: petty, cruel, image-obsessed, tacky, corrupt, craven, childish, fat, power-hungry and hubristic. He is the dark American id and his supporters love him for that. His ascent tells them that they can be proud to be all of those things.
I found this part interesting. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/justic...ump-special-master-request-mar-a-lago-search/ This counters the attempts by certain editorial boards to downplay the significance of classified material. It was a bizarre thing to put forward in the first place. More about the declassification claim by Trump. His legal team has never made any motion that any of the material is actually declassified. They have not once suggested that as a defense for Trump. The only one making that claim is Trump on Social Media. It just adds to the idea that the material was not declassified. I also find it fascinating that there are two different camps of Trump defenders. 1. Those that are lost in the cult and love Trump and simply can't believe that he did anything wrong, dangerous, or un-American. 2. Those that are sure he did, but are so used to what they have always believed was over-dramatization by Never-Trumpers and Democrats, that they can't believe this is actually something serious. The photo evidence and response by the DOJ show both that Trump did actually do it, and that it is actually something serious. It appears very clear cut.
