Good post and the last paragraph shows why we need a new manager badly. The GM and Manager need to be on the same page on these issues. The GM needs to be able to say "hey, what do you think about bringing up Diaz and getting a good look at him for a couple of weeks". From everything we read, those kind of conversations aren't had between Click and Dusty
Unfortunately, from what we read fairly regularly, he might not give a damn about what guys like JV and Maldy had to say.
Would have never guessed. Interesting to see how he's used, they gave him time at 1B and corner OF as well. Unless there's a 60 day injury move to be made I think this means Niko Goodrum DFA'd.
I like Diaz especially for the future but he seems redundant to Mancini. Not sure how Dusty will manage their playing time unless Yuli goes to the bench
I assume it also means Chas is ready or close to ready to play again. They can't just have Dubon as the lone center fielder (and Tucker in a pinch)
It sounds like he was close to returning as of last weekend from what the team said. Anything longer and they'd have IL'd him.
Diaz is not a catcher. He may serve as a third or emergency guy but he will not be a regular behind the plate.
Honestly I’ll be pissed if Diaz plays 1B and Mancini rides the bench . A spot start to see “what happens” is fine .
