More info about the Hunter Biden troubles...

Trump’s Longtime CFO Agrees to Throw the Trump Organization Under the Bus
A good rule of thumb for anyone running a small or large business is to never be in a position where you have to say, “One of our top executives is a convicted criminal.” Unfortunately for the Trump Organization, that’s exactly the situation it is about to find itself in, as Allen Weisselberg, its longtime chief financial officer, pleaded guilty on Thursday to running a yearslong tax scheme with Donald Trump’s family business. And if you are thinking this sounds like bad news for the ex-president, you are thinking right!

While Weisselberg’s plea deal does not require him to cooperate with the Manhattan district attorney’s broader criminal investigation against Trump the man, he will likely be a central witness during the government’s trial against the Trump Organization in October, where, per The New York Times, “he will have to testify about his role in the scheme to avoid paying taxes on lavish corporate perks” if he is called as a witness. While the Trump Organization has pleaded not guilty to the cornucopia of crimes it was charged with in July 2021—including conspiracy, grand larceny, and multiple counts of tax fraud and falsifying records—it’s pretty clear that having one of its most powerful employees detail the many crimes he committed while working for the joint will not be great for its defense.

If Weisselberg tells the truth during the trial—i.e. he tells the jury about how, as CFO of the company, he engaged in a scheme to compensate himself and other executives with off-the-books perks for which taxes were not paid, and personally dodged taxes on $1.76 million of income over the last 15 years—he’ll be given a five-month prison sentence, of which he would probably only serve 100 days, according to the reported details of the plea deal. He’d also have to fork over nearly $2 million in taxes, penalties, and interest. Among the perks Weisselberg received as part of the scam were an apartment on the Upper West Side, leased Mercedes-Benzes, and private school tuition for his grandchildren. When the indictment against Weisselberg and the Trump Organization was unsealed last year, it showed the company kept actual spreadsheets of its alleged crimes. Responding to the news at the time, company executives Don Jr. and Eric Trump argued that people dodge taxes all the time and it’s not a big deal; they also claimed that the $1.76 million that Weisselberg avoided paying the IRS was “pennies on the dollar.”

While the DA’s criminal investigation against Trump himself has seemingly lost speed, the veteran prosecutor who resigned in February insisted it wasn’t for a lack of evidence, saying in his resignation letter: “The team that has been investigating Mr. Trump harbors no doubt about whether he committed crimes—he did.” Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg, who took over the office in January, said in a statement in April that the probe was ongoing.

We should really define exactly what executive privileges consist of.

If it's not specific, folks could act like they are God and get away with anything like how trump was doing.

It actually is pretty basic, and easy to understand. It's communication between folks in the executive branch that shows how the government functions which could be sensitive. Trump isn't in the government anymore so his communications aren't privileged. Classifications like Top Secret override everything anyways on government documents from present and past administrations.

So therefore if it's not classified, it would be in some sort of presidential library, or part of some sort of public archives anyways UNLESS THE CURRENT Executive Branch directly claims something to be privileged that isn't classified.

Trump only has privilege claims on a very very small portion of communications that either are in a grey area between being classified, and still sensitive government processes that would impeded THE BIDEN ADMINISTATIONS ability to execute their work in government.

    .........

The only reason why Trump gets to act like God is because people treat him like he's one. If you take away both the cult like worship plus the mob like threats of violence, he's just a regular a$$hole who wears too much makeup. He has almost no more power than you or I in reality though other than secret service protection... which you and I pay for anyways.

I'm not too knowledge about this topic. So basically excutive privilege is things trump would talk to his staff that might b classified hence he is allowed to claim that to not reveal to the public?

It honestly felt like he was using it very broadly for anything he doesnt want to discuss to avoid being transparent.

It also felt like he was using it to say that he can't b charged for anything.

I imagine it is pennies on the dollar in the scheme of the Trump family business corruption. To them that's business as usual.

There is a strawman here. The story that was "buried" was that of Joe Biden being involved, not of Hunter having a laptop found with embarrassing crap. The media in fact had stated the laptop was legit.

There is a lot of reasons that no one wants to take Donald Trump on as a client. If you had told me a decade ago that a President of the USA couldn't get competent legal counsel, I would have said you were insane because for no other reason than the cache of representing someone as important as a President of the USA is incredible advertising.

However, in the legal community, Trump is known to argue over every bill, cut bills and not pay them. Couple that with him having chosen very poorly in the past when it comes to legal counsel, and his complete lack of self discipline and no one wants to touch anything to do with Trump. Also, a lot of lawyers think it is just a matter of time before he gets caught in something he cannot get out of.

First, there are a lot of attorneys that are really not all that great and regularly make mistakes,

It’s crazy to know that if you’re just a 7 with t*** you could easily infiltrate Trumps inner circle.
