There's only one Al. I'd watch an actual documentary about him, with scenes from his career and various interviews. But this is going to be like casting Dr. J in that Lakers show.
are all these biopics making money? i would rather watch uhf 2 even if it was made on a shoestring budget.
The weird thing about that is Gangsta's Paradise is effectively a very serious take on the "Weird Al"-ification of Pastime Paradise by Stevie Wonder. The three seem like three equidistant points in a continuum. Maybe Weird Al should have just said he was sampling Coolio, instead of making a parody. Just Googling a bit, the two writers are Weird Al, and a guy named Eric Appel, who writes and directs for TV comedies like Brooklyn 99 and Silicon Valley. I don't think there's going to be too many deep moments, or Brando in "On The Waterfront" 'I coulda been a contender..." moments of deep pathos. Radcliffe makes more sense if you don't think of it as a hard hitting biopic (autobiopic?), but rather a silly comedy built loosely around a Weird Al framework.
when i think weird al, i immediately think harry potter. excellent choice! tho i would prefer a more woke actor to play mr. weird, maybe someone like someone like john boyega or henry golding
Daniel Radcliffe is a pretty weird dude himself. If you look at some of his film choices post-Harry Potter, you definitely see where he has a weird sense of humor. Swiss Army Man was one of the weirdest movies I have ever seen in my life...and I kind of loved it. Guns Akimbo was gloriously ridiculous. So having said all that, I think he might have the weird mentality to pull this off. I read in an article about this movie that it was going to get into Weird Al's "famous depraved lifestyle". What depraved lifestyle? I feel like I've never heard anything off about that guy and I always kind of assumed he was pretty straight laced, just goofy.
This movie is actually a parody of biopics. It's not a factual biopic. It's basically like a long-form version of this old funny-or-die video
I could google but was the Madonna and Weird Al thing, a thing? Canseco, Weird Al, Sam Cassell. Gotta love a white girl with that much range.
