How can you not laugh at parents who accuse you of sexually grooming your children as a teacher? I would immediately lose all respect for those parents and make them the butt of jokes constantly. They don't deserve respect when they listen to extremist propaganda and make extremist claims that they are teaching their kids how to have blow jobs.
In communist systems, dismantling the family and undermining parents' influence on their children has always been key. You guys can read up on that.
You’re making the point that this law could be used exactly how we are warning. If a parent is uncomfortable with homosexuality or even what they consider woke they can go after a teacher for it even if it’s just as mild as having a pic of their partner. The enforcement mechanism of this is by irate parents. That could cover a broad range of things. Also as has been noted FL already had a law restricting teaching sex Ed to primary school children. This law at best adds is a solution in search of a problem. At worst it will lead to the firing and legal harassment of LGBT teachers for just sharing that they ar LGBT.
In a theoretic Muslim country, would you call ex-muslim teaching staff in a school forming after school safe spaces for a 12 year old homosexual boy who they know is being oppressed at home and being denied his identity a groomer?
That's my initial thought. But FL has always faced hurricanes. And in the last 5 years, I think LA has been hit much worse than FL. LA rate has been relatively stable. I was chit-chatting with my cousin there a few weeks ago and he said his home insurance cost went up more than 2x last year (from 1.5k to 4k). I was shocked to hear that. There is something else going on there and it's pretty recent.
No, I am pointing out ideological parallels between what these activists do and what happened in totalitarian communist states.
Can you eleborate? your own description of the law shows that an irate parent can go after a teacher based on what they think is inappropriately it doesn’t spell out what those standards are.
I elaborated many times. Just sharing what your own orientation is is not "classroom instruction". Otherwise, someone who is heterosexual talking about their husband/wife would be "classroom instruction" as well. Strawman.
For that matter it’s certainly relevant then to note that many of DeSantis’ rhetoric and actions towards private corporations is Marxist in nature. Saying that there is no difference between a private for profit property and the public square is ideologically Marxist.
So a teacher that shares there sexual orientation that a parent doesn’t like would be subject to the law.
They can point out whatever they want - I don't see it that way. Is he polarizing and potentially divisive? Yes. Fascist? I think you need to learn about what that word really means.
