So you think more than 50 % of Floridian voters are racists?

    Racist? Don't know. Reactionary? Ya.

Anyways I think most humans have some racial/tribalistic instincts. It's about trying to be introspective and understand that you might have them and try to combat those base instincts.

The person ATW attempts to portray himself as mirrors MLK's "white moderate". Allegedly on the side of justice, but not interested in achieving it.

Which is ironic because modern conservatives will always spam that one line a out not seeing race while ignoring the hundreds of comments saying that racial justice ain't going to be served until economic justice happens.

I think If you quietly tolerate the KKK and Neo-Nazi's as they support your candidate for Governor (and potentially president) then yes you're accepting racism and white nationalism, which pretty much makes you a racist.

I've picked a side and it's not the side of intolerance, fascism, bigotry and hatred. Now you pick. (although we already know which side you're on)

Ya but then there is the content of the actual words said out of his mouth. It resembles you so that's why I was curious.

The constant complaining about "woke" people and things is nauseating. If it was actually focused critiquing against cancel culture or word-policing or "trigger words" and "safe spaces" I'd be fine with it, but the "woke" tent keeps expanding. Oh, you hired a black person for this lead role? You must be woke. Oh, there's a gay couple in this movie -- and (gasp) there's a kiss? WOKE! Come on ...

It was actually hard to understand for me. I think if you had actually read my post and the articles I posted, rather than attributing things to me (which is what you do all the time, as another poster had also observed), you would have noticed that my positions are more nuanced.

Defendants targeted in DeSantis' voter fraud crackdown were told they could vote - POLITICO

    By MATT DIXON
    08/26/2022 11:03 AM EDT

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Several people who were arrested last week as part of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ voter fraud crackdown were notified by official government entities they were eligible to vote, according to court documents and interviews.

The defendants told authorities they had no intention of committing voter fraud, according to affidavits, and in some cases were baffled by their arrests because counties had sent them voter registration cards and approved them to vote.

The defendants were vilified by the governor during a high profile press conference last week, where DeSantis announced the arrest of 20 people — convicted murderers and sex offenders — who allegedly cast votes in the 2020 election when they weren’t eligible to. The defendants, because of their convictions, weren’t permitted to vote.

DeSantis highlighted their arrests to show his new $1.1 million election security office, created during the 2022 legislative session, was paying off and rooting out bad actors looking to commit voter fraud. Such fraud has become a top tier issue for Republicans across the country, including DeSantis, who has championed a series of election reform bills, including the creation of a first-of-its kind election investigations unit housed under Republican Attorney General Ashley Moody.

In the days since the announcement, however, several of those arrested have told media outlets or authorities that they had no idea they were not eligible to vote. In court documents filed in five counties, most say at least one official government body — in most cases a local election supervisor — incorrectly indicated to them they could vote, including allowing them to register and sending them voter cards in the mail.

    ...

There have been three arrests made in The Villages, a Republican stronghold in central Florida, related to people admitting they voted twice in the 2020 election. DeSantis did not hold events highlighting those arrested, each of whom entered pretrial diversion programs and avoided jail time.

I will say this, in general, it would be better for politics to become less divisive. It used to be that political opponents fought hard up to an election, but then the elected president would work on uniting the country, rather than dividing it further. Trump was terrible when it came to that, there are many examples of leftist politicians who were terrible at it, and I can see why people would assume DeSantis would not make things better in that respect either. He rallies the troops behind an "anti-woke" agenda (which I mostly happen to agree with). Difficult to see how to get out of the increasingly partisan scenario, from both sides, though (and the woko haram brigade is at least 50 % at fault for this).

I think we might really be underestimating the backlash that's going to come from all of this Republican overreach.

Too bad Christ is a retread, but would not be surprised if he gets some real traction and makes it a close race.

So why are you always posting stuff that's so divisive and liking posts that are trying hard to be divisive?

You love Desantis and he might be the most divisive politician of anybody currently.
