Doesn’t need to be….paying KPJ monopoly money will not end well. Drugs, abuses, addictions, etc. is the likely outcome. Rarely does loads of money help rather than hurt “troubled” athletes like KPJ.
All of that is fair. Thanks for the civility. All things in life are up for debate as long as the parties can remain respectful IMO. Efficiency, Consistency, Stability, Maturity. All things Scoot needs to get better at. Some of those come naturally as boys become men and some comes from dedication to your craft. I dont thing any of use went straight from college into being 'stars' in our field. There were a bunch of mistakes and learning from more experienced mentors or co-workers, I think digging as deep as possible for stats that lead to a negative designation is really splitting atoms just the same as guys like me who take precise moments in time via video or breakdowns to look for that "it" factor. The ABILITY to be the type of player that can be a cornerstone of a championship team. I think Scoot can be that guy - BUT (huge BUT) he does need to address the sensible concerns that y ou have posted. I really dont think they are that difficult to achieve, but you may feel they are and its fine. As a capologist just remember that the cap is about to skyrocket. 15Ms may very well be the new MLE very soon. I have no confidence in the free agent market bringing a better player than what we have on the team already. The trade market is not even clear until you get into the season so if that is the path then having patience with KPJ is really the only alternative until that market materializes and then hoping that the type of generational player that EVERYONE can rally around is even available.
I KNOW ya'll want another player comp in extension talks! Gary Trent Jr signed a 3yr 54M contract before the season. 16.2/3.2/1.2 43/35/85 splits and had a nice season to justify the contract. I view KPJ at no worse an equal player to Gary Trent. Im just trying to argue that 15Ms per season for KPJ is right in the wheel house. I will readily admit that I don't know anything about about Gary Trent Jr. My question still remains though, does Gary Trent Jr have any maturity issues? That is a big part of why I would hesitate to give him a "$15M per" type of contract. Also, why are you still wanting to have this argument with people? It's beyond beating a dead horse at this point. People either believe he can overcome his maturity issues or they don't, just like they will either believe he is worth the troubles he brings or not and whether he will become a serviceable PG or not, efficient scorer or not. There isn't a middle ground here and no one is going to be convinced one way or another until KPJ himself proves things one way or another.

You are free to do whatever you want to do, I just don't understand the point of it. You aren't changing anything or any minds. If anything, it just annoys people who could have become bigger KPJ fans similar to how LOFs ended up making people annoyed at Lin through transition. Nothing you do or say affects contract negotiations between KPJ and the Rockets FO either. They have all the info any of us have and more, so if they thought he was worth whatever money his agent was asking for, he would already be extended by now. What is your reason / purpose for this exercise in futility?

I am actually not annoyed. I literally am not invested enough in KPJ to care one way or another on this subject. Whether or not he goes or stays, my reaction would be a solid "meh". I just think you are smarter / better than this.

It ruffled your feathers so for that Im sorry I guess. You're a long standing contributor here and undoubtedly know the vibe of the place. While I enjoy a little petty with my coffee in the morning I rarely let this place get to me to a point where it ruins my mood or day, but we're all different. Im just trying to make a case for "my guy" and hope that with time other Rocket fans will be able to appreciate him the same way. No offense intended.
That's my point though, you already made your case for your guy. In fact, you made several great and legitimate points, some of which no doubt others have not considered yet. Going beyond that can easily cross into the realm of disservice, an area of negativity where KPJ haters (like King1) are more than happy to pounce on and take advantage of. People who have had debates about KPJ in good faith all agree that at this point, it's purely wait and see. That's just my 2 cents at least.
