Teams without stars don't just get to be middling teams. A lot of teams WANT to win but can't, perennially. Nets may want to tank but will not do it to work with us. Would you give them back all of their resources for Durant? No and neither would I. What do the Nets have to give us that is worth those picks? What does another team have that is worth those picks? Bottom line, yes the picks have value to the Nets but they WON'T cooperate with us to get them back and due to their impending implosion there is not benefit to us HELPING them land softly or picking up the pieces. Time is on our side, not theirs. They are compromised, we are not. Sure, its a risk, a calculated one but from a position of strength.

The CP3 trade riddled us but we nullified completely their pick swaps and got back 1 of the picks. Through other trades and machinations we got back another. We have essentially negated that trade blunder. Before we cut Wall, would you have waited and trade the Nets all of their assets back for KD and Kyrie and given Kyrie the extension he wanted? I think that deal would have set us back. GSW is a one of a kind proven model of success. Get lucky with high draft picks, save your cap, and at the right time grab FAs and use Bird rights to keep your guys. It overloads you with talent without purging your draft assets in the future. Now you can continually build. That is the model we are following.

Didn't really give a **** into the Durant/Kyrie drama because it wasn't going to mean squat for us in the 2023 draft.

Can't wait for 2023 offseason, more Kyrie/KD drama, and where the Brooklyn 2024 pick is going to land!

he has Kyrie to mentor him on how to wreck a team, and he has Harden to mentor him on how to correctly force a trade

it’s time to enter the fat suit phase

I get the idea that this isn't over.

Seems to me that Brooklyn told KD "Suck it up buttercup, we're not trading you."

Sounds like "we don't mind getting uncomfortable"

He got nothing he wanted ... and got embarrassed in the process.

Durant shows up wearing Harden's fat suit .... 8 losses later Brooklyn finally moves him for peanuuts.

Idk why they wouldnt get rid of nash either way. Kd is 100% in the right here. Nash is the only thing stopping that team from being number 1 seed in the league

Btw for anyone else who wants to jerk themselves off over mediocre draft picks. Here are the last 5 guys selected at the same spot as future superstar tari eason

    Trey murphy III
    Aleksej pokusevski
    Nickeil alexander walker
    Donte divincenzo
    Dj wilson

The list gets even better if you go down further

This is really the hill you want to die on? A team with 3 superstars almost landed in the lottery and will not have those assets again through 2027 and you think it is going to be mediocre draft picks. Good luck with that. Tari Eason might be the worst thing we get out of that trade. Sacramento has tried to be good for a long time. Detroit, Orlando, and NYK say hi. In the face of previous history you just blurt this out full well knowing that Boston was led in the Finals last year by players that should have been Nets. Brown and Tatum mediocre, sure. Perspective is a hell of a thing.

Your logic is such a mess its almost impossible to decipher what you are trying to say

No, the nets with kyrie, kd, simmons are not comparable to the kings or orlando lmao. Also NO to the boston comparison. Kd averaged as many points this year as garnett, pierce and joe johnson combined. This is not the same situation

i kinda agree with your saying in some areas...
but those KMart/Scola era teams were the epitome of a middling team without stars... trapped on the 'treadmill of mediocrity' as was decried here on CF..
I'd say every year there's a % of teams tanking (although perhaps not blatantly) + a % of teams that are enduring 'growing pains' (and a losing record) hoping their young talent comes to fruition in coming years...
so i think if a team isnt playing the 'long game' they could spend payroll on journeymen mercenaries and assemble a .500 team... and if u dont have your picks going forward - there's no 'long game' to be had...

We'll see If Tari Eason is garbage, as you say. :)

We'll see If the Nets are garbage in 2025-26-27, as you frantically deny... :)

Garnet was an all star the year before he got to the Nets. That would be the same age as Durant in the 24-25 season. One can be pessimistic about this. For me though it seems the Nets are screwed no matter what and choose to be positive. The Rockets are beginning to get loaded with talent. It’s going to be a fun next several years to follow the team. I’ll be hoping the Rockets trade all the picks and swaps to add a top 20 player or one of those picks ends up top 5.

You keep saying this year ignoring 2024-2027 which is what the post was about. Nothing unclear about what I was saying. Your logic is shortsighted and wrong.

So, Nash had Kyrie, Harden and Simmons flake out on the team? Nash was responsible for Joe Harris getting hurt? Nash signed the 2015 all-star crew with the ghosts of Aldridge, Griffin and Milsap all getting minutes?
Come on, dude. It's deeper than coaching.
