I dont get "NEW" anime. I miss the fun of 90's anime. What dont you get about anime? There is essentially something for everyone. you just have to find it.
some of these manga/anime writers are incredibly creative How do u even come up with something like Hunter x Hunter or JJK?
I like anime for the interesting sci-fi stories and mindless action, but I'm getting too old to handle the cringey stuff found in Shield Hero. It's pandering while also using adult themes. I'll still spend time to watch something like Attack on Titan or Ghost in the Shell.
I remember watching Robotech as a kid. It was great. I’m not into Anime as an adult but did just finish a series called “Immortal Blade” that was pretty good. The imagery of it was what got me with some beautiful images of nature. I have some friends who are adults who are really into anime including some who have done cosplay at cons.
To each their own of course, it's all good either way based on what you like. But I'm the opposite, I think anime is pretty much mainstream, and if you really look at people in 2022 I don't see why it wouldn't be. Honestly, people have already watched some form of animation their whole lives at this point. The majority of Americans likely grew up watching the US form of anime, cartoons, the Simpsons, Family Guy, and Southpark are 20-30 years old. Millions of people go watch Marvel movies or read comics which is a billion-dollar per film industry. Pretty sure a lot of celebrities, government officials around the world watch animation, and even people who spent time in prison or military veterans get into it (Punisher comics, Batman/Superman, etc. for example) Even if it wasn't mainstream if it's legal and doesn't hurt society or go against your values, watch or do what makes you happy, if you're secure in yourself who cares what others think? In the social media age, I guarantee you there are millions of people similar.
There is tons of trash anime out there but i can get behind something like hunter x hunter. Much rather read manga, though. I think we are long past anime having a stigma. Like no one is getting bullied at school because they watch one piece or dragon ball. IMO that toonami block on cartoon network did wonders to change how anime is perceived in the usa. That negative stigma is not something that was present growing up in latin america lol. By the late 80's/early 90's we were all being raised by that ****. Because it was relatively cheap to get the license and dub these 70's and 80's anime, we were watching things like Candy Candy, Mazinger Z, Heidi, Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball as late as 96.
Alot of Anime is adult oriented but alot simply doen't baby kids Kids are strong and understand more than we think We all can cry about Optimus Prime's death but trust with the new kids. . .Jariya's or Neji's death is just as painful Anime is usually less kiddie than American cartoons Less moronic/sophmoric/stupid . . . TRUST there is that out there too . .. but Those are not the ones I watch Some good lessons to be learned in an not overly preachy way Rocket River
I`ve never really searched it out so I cant say I hate it, just isn't something I gravitate towards........but I am also getting to that old man age who tells kids to stay off my dam lawn
I’m sure there is something out there it’s just hard to find anything for drama. Adult drama is hard to convey in animation imo. I need real facial expressions. I don’t do all that Naruto, dragon ball z fighting monsters with karate. I need that real courtroom stuff.
Oh for sure the writing is super creative, I don’t think I’m smart enough to understand it. I don’t know, I get A.D.D with anything cartoon looking. Guess I am a boomer.
That was awesome! I can't do anime because I don't care for the animation style(s), which is a bit of a problem when watching a cartoon
Yes, Robotech is always going to be special to me, grew up with that cartoon along with both Voltrons and Speed Racer. A few years ago I rewatched it with the wife and she actually enjoyed it quite a bit, she even grew to hate Minmay, the storytelling holds up surprisingly well. Still shocked a live action adaptation has been stuck in development hell for decades, Macross looks ready made for an adaptation..... Outside of that I only watched a handful of thing when I was younger, like Ghost in the Shell, Akira some of Vampire Hunter D. I see previews for the new stuff and it looks cool but never had a strong desire to actually watch them but I might give Attack on Titan a shot at some point....
Yeah One Punch Man was ridiculous in its premise but somehow made you actually care about the storylines and the characters. Great show, it pushes all my buttons of weirdness humor and action.
Between anime and Korean shows/movies. They have done a MUCH better job than western/US in regards to creativity and unique stories the last 25 years. Who the f comes up with a story like Oldboy. I mean really??
Up until I was 19, I was an idiot who was hating on people watching anime. Then, as an adult I got into it myself. I prefer it to movies or TV shows now.
