I only recall the one good Astros-Braves memory where we beat them in like 16 on a...was it...Brad Ausmus dinger? Do I recall that correctly? That's the only time in my mind we took care of the Braves. Didn't we like knock them out of the playoffs with that win? My memory is kind of hazy.
Just ****ing angry, still. This one stings... I think honestly it's just that this week has been a b**** of a week for **** ass losses. Monday, Tuesday, now Today. Watching this team gives me all of the joys and perils of smoking meth. It's a ****ing ride. Yes, I'm a spoiled ass, b**** ass, punk ass, unreasonable ass Astros fan, and any losses to any team ever under any circumstance is just ****ing unacceptable. If you disagree, then go **** yourself.
We've won a world series before with a busted bullpen and terrible closer, but we had multiple starters to pitch the final 3/4 innings of big games. This should be put in stone, but under no circumstance should a relief pitcher see a game 7.
On the year, Stanek throws an average 99 mph fastball 60% of the time. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/ryne-stanek-592773?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb Tonight, one pitch over 95... his first 10 pitches were splitters or sliders... his only fastball was the last pitch he threw... So he is 60% fastballs all year and 9% tonight... I think Vazquez doesn't know the staff well enough or something isn't being communicated correctly. https://www.espn.com/mlb/playbyplay/_/gameId/401356012
It was Ausmus who tied in the 9th with a solo dinger and Chris Burke who walked it off in the 18th to win the series 3-1. We also beat them 3-2 the previous year in the NLDS.
Yes, and that strategy is great if you have a manager who will use it. Dusty gonna be throwing out Phil Maton and Will Smith to clean up a 1 run game in the 6th and 7th while a rest Javier rides the pine. In all fairness, Hinch was a b**** too with his "Will Harris is gassed" *proceeds to ride Will Harris like a bull in game 6 & 7 BS* But yes, this could be the avenue to glory. I suspect Javier would play a central role if it panned out that way.
Trash mentality to worry about the things you can control? The Braves are a really good team. We didn't play up to our standards except for Javier... It's clear Stanek and Neris weren't sharp. Hitters don't make pitchers miss their execution...
It's a trash mentality bc you could use the same generic ass excuse anytime, anywhere, for any game, against any opponent. "Well, just playyyyeddd bettttttter than us. Oh well" Alright, cool.
Breaking ball off the plate has a 50-50 shot of being hacked at, no matter where it is, 6 inches out-in-or-down They sure swing at good pitcher's pitches off the plate, just like everyone else does.
Why didn't Pressley come out to pitch the 10th when we were up 2? Dusty......I just don't think he is all that great. DD
Go ahead and prepare your anus for a sweep tomorrow. The man we'll always love no matter how many times he beats us, Mr. Morton, is on the mound. Assuming we're winless in games he's started since he left, right?
Trash implies it has no value. Not reflecting on your mistakes is a foolish way to repeat them. We literally lost because our bullpen pitched poorly. We didn't hit great but we were going against elite pitching with little familiarity... also missing our best hitter. So i focus on the guys who under performed against good players. Elite players get out 65% of the time and Stanek got no one out. He didn't pitch to his normal makeup or execution. Not sure why this concept digs at you so...
Perhaps if they were in a tight division race he would have. Yankees and Mariners lost today. Today never happened.
He's pitched 1+ in one game this season. I dunno why, I'd imagine Dusty assumed one of the other former closers could get the job done
We get there and Altuve, Alverez, Bregman are hot… we smoke everyone. Braves will be slumping by then, someone else will be the hot team.
