    Separation of Church and State

Separation of Church and State is a phrase that refers to the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. The phrase dates back to the early days of U.S. history, and Thomas Jefferson referred to the First Amendment as creating a “wall of separation” between church and state as the third president of the U.S. The term is also often employed in court cases. For example, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black famously stated in Everson v. Board of Education that “[t]he First Amendment has erected a wall between church and state,” and “[t]hat wall must be kept high and impregnable.”

Wait so I can pay a Texas public school to display "Bismillah"?

    Neat!

It wasn’t because it’s religious libtard. It was approved because it was our nations motto since this country signed the Declaration of Independence in 1956. But in todays America the communists are trying to take our cherished motto away! Read a book.

Exactly. The GOP is killing religion. They are doing exactly what they are accusing the other side of. You want to have a “war on religion”…??… do this kind of sh$t.

I think you should try. Seriously. If this is truly religious freedom then all religions should be allowed to be displayed in public schools.

The Christian nationalists movement going on is going to speed it up yeah...but what else can they do?

This particular religion is losing power and for its strong advocates they have to get more and more desperate which means trying to force it onto as many people as possible.

Same godless liberals that mistakenly made abortion, homosexuality, and interracial marriage legal.

We're resetting to 1776 rules. Federalist Society forever, baby!

What if you made posters of some of the more "questionable" verses from the Bible and donated them, would they have to be displayed?

This would look great right between quotes by Abraham Lincoln and MLK in "inner city" schools.

If I donate pornographic posters with "In God We Trust" stamped on them, will the school be compelled to hang them in a conspicuous place?

Maybe less obvious, you could do Joan of Arc being burned at the stake with the slogan and required flags. Or Charlottesville neo-nazis. Klan. Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I think they didn't write it tightly enough not to get trolled into oblivion: https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/87R/billtext/html/SB00797I.htm

"to abstain completely from teaching or defending this doctrine and opinion or from discussing it... to abandon completely... the opinion that the sun stands still at the center of the world and the earth moves, and henceforth not to hold, teach, or defend it in any way whatever, either orally or in writing."

-- Catholic Church pronouncement against Galileo, 1616

    This law is pretty fun!

Ecclesiastes 1:18 -- "For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow."

    Haha. Pink Floyd rejoices.

Psalm 137:9 -- "Blessed shall be be who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!"

    Perfect for kindergarten!

It's a fun game, and the Bible has given us so many numerous options.

"The people of Samaria must bear their guilt, because they have rebelled against their God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to the ground, their pregnant women ripped open." (Hosea 13:4, 9, 16, NIV)
