What's Eating Gilbert Grape: Hbo max, 8.2 /10 1st time watching this. It's no wonder why Leo went from adopted Seaver to Stardom after this film. As for Gilbert, how you gonna be banging Mrs Betty while leaving Arnie in the car with no supervision. Time and place, breh. The run time went by quickly.
I'm in an extreme camp for Leo, but I actually think his career was on a steady tack downward after that. I feel like that's the last time I was transported by his performance into a story, instead of saying, "oh, here's Leonardo DiCaprio, and he's really flexing those acting muscles today." There's tons of other good performances, I know. But I have the same kinda weird take about Daniel Day Lewis after he did Unbearable Lightness.
There is truth to it. It's like when rappers blow up and become multimillionaires. Rapping about being broke doesn't hit the same.
Bill the Butcher saved him in my eyes. I just wish Brendan Gleeson had killed him instead of the other way around.
That's a good call on both counts. And I kind of liked Leo in Catch Me If You Can. A larger-than-life role kind of worked for him that time.
That's a good flick. I used to call him Leonora Dicaprio but he's grown on me a bit. Wolf of Wall Street was pretty epic.
While waiting for BCS finale on AMC+ been catching up on Creepshow. Pure 80's goodness and a great rack you got to see as a teen. Sadly, they took the tit portion out of the below vid.
the darjeeling limited - wat/10 wtf did i watch? what was the whole point of the movie? i need to know this
man, this dude Wes Anderson is weird. I pretty much hated all his movies except Fantastic Mr. Fox. I felt obligated to watch his corny ass films because he was from Austin.
i enjoyed the grand budapest and rushmore, but the latter only due to it being shot in lamar high (go redskins!). i feel like wes and michael bay should do a collab
Wes is a Hollywood indie movie director darling. Golden Globes love him. Calling him a weirdo did make me laugh.
all of his characters are all the same. awkward people who like to stare at things. actually, should team up with quentin tarantino to give his characters some color. imagine a wes movie with his characters cursing up a storm and dropping n-words
This one hasn't been mentioned in this thread (or on CF in >6 years): Fritz the Cat 9/10 because it's only 78 min and not longer
Thirteen Lives - 9/10 Amazon Original Directed by Ron Howard Story is about the12 Thai soccer players and their coach who get trapped by water in a cave and got rescued by intl rescue cave divers.
just saw the new ghostbusters - 7/10 only because the last 15 mins was a feels fest. did harold’s fam not give permission to manipulate egon’s voice? also what the end credit means with the red light? i need to know this
