They should just ban children from going to the schools so the homeless can use the schools for shelter and education.. Then the homeless can get jobs and return to being a contributing part of society...

    @Salvy
So poor immigrants from Mexico , illegal or not can come in and find work and shelter immediately. While homeless people have been homeless forever .
Why so? Cause the non Americans want to work and not do drugs.
It’s really about the drugs and mental health
I mean Delonte West made like 50 million in the nba
    He’s homeless now or was

it’s not about making tiny huts and making woke brownie points for it

It’s quite obvious we are not treating the cause or causes
They’ve been trying forever with shelters, tiny homes, hotels etc
That never solved anything because homelessness is a result not the problem(s)

Libs chose the oddest things to fight for, seriously... Not even joking.... Its like they chose the absolute worst possible things for society and stand behind it.

The United States receive nearly 5x if not more migrants than any country in the world and libs still won't admit there is a crisis, eventually at this rate crime will sky rocket and so will homelessness. How long can a country sustain itself with these type of numbers?

    I don’t think they don’t know
It’s just they want open borders because they love drugs and cheap labor

these aren’t poor people , woke people protest when Starbucks overcharges for non milk based creamery for their $6 lattes

you know when you go to whataburger and want bacon and cheese on the whataburger
    They will charge you more

    it’s pretty much standard process

The Republicans are working on destroying education right now.... so just hold on.

As for the homeless, neither party really cares about them.

The USA has long taken in immigrants (many of them illegal) and it has been a strength of the country by almost every measure historically.

The USA has at least 330 million people, so about 15% of the United States is made of foreign born residents.

The UK has 67 million people and has 9.4 million people that are foreign born residents....... about 15% of the country.

Germany has 83 million people, and 15.8 million are foreign born....... or almost 18%.

France has about 13% foreign born.... Canada 17%.

So the reality is that the country that has long let in and thrived off of immigrants (USA). Doesn't really have any bigger percentage of immigrants than other major first world countries with similar backgrounds.

Historically the United States has had periods of very high immigration in the past. In the 1860's through 1920's saw 15% of the American people foreign born and it dipped to the lowest rate of 5% in the 1970's and has gone back up since then. Historically we have had long periods of high immigration followed by lower periods and returns to the highs.

The vast majority of immigrants in the USA are here legally as well, and for all the talk of Mexican immigrants in the USA, there are more Asian immigrants in the USA than Mexicans.

As far as the Democrats choosing the absolute worst things to stand behind, half the country feels the same way about Republicans - that is how politics work.

They presumably want to destroy public education to break up teachers unions. Seem fine paying 10K a year for "pro CRT" private schools like Ted Cruz.

The voucher scheme seems ripe for some for-profit grift to swindle gullible folks.

Aren't you among the 50.6 million Salvy?

Seems like a weird way to frame it. ::shrugs::

They are losing the culture war and they are blaming it on the educational system, when the reality is that progress almost always wins. They want to have poorly educated teachers that will embrace things like creationism and and other dated beliefs and teach while passing down flawed belief systems. It is happening in Florida.

I hear both sides of the political divide claim the other is using politics ..... when the reality is both sides are sprinting to do it as quickly as possible.

I wonder how the smarter Cons will respond to this charge that Republican leadership is deliberately lobotomizing the nation in order to appear like winners with zero irony attached.

    Parents rites!! Anglish Only!!

The only thing that unites all Californians is their lust for high property prices. NIMBY everything and most likely you'll see the strangest bedfellows at the picket line.

The random homeless sleeping and ******** on our streets is mostly our doing.

I was born in Houston, my parents are from El Salvador.... I'm not against immigration. I'm against open borders and the insane influx of people just simply walking over because Dem's keep carelessly welcoming them in. My parents came and got to work right away on obtaining their citizenship. They worked hard for it and took advantage of the opportunities this great country has to offer. They didn't sit down and felt discriminated, they didn't glue themselves to a Fiesta... They didn't protest. They worked hard and obtained their citizenship asap.

Immigration is a strength to a country when the people immigrating are looking to become a part of the country. Work hard and contribute. The issue right now is that for every person looking to work hard and contribute there is an equivalent looking to do the opposite. And the country can only take in so many people before we start seeing a housing and food crisis. Not to mention crime. I'm not against other people receiving the same opportunities my family did. I'm against the corrupt politicians using immigration as a way to define their platform, to look like "good" people at the cause of the countries future only for them to live miles and miles away in their million dollar homes and never deal with the very thing they are promoting and or creating.

Do you think your parents are the only 1st gen Americans that are silently working their asses off?

I used to think like you. I realized my parents experience or "cultural work ethic" isn't that unique when you consider those tens of millions of immigrants don't really cause that much trouble in proportion to their numbers.

I don't think we need Open Borders to prove a point, but giving the 50 million number as A Big Problem seems disingenuous and is designed to make the life of immigrants, who want to work hard and become citizens the right way, a lot harder.

Cons want the feeling or appearance of The Country looking like Their Country. If you're the product of immigrants and can't pass as white, how does that "feeling" make you feel?

Do you still have to Be On Your Best Behavior even when you are legit entitled to run for President? Food for thought...

I agree Dem politicians are too eager to please their further left wings who do want open borders. They're not capturing the Latino vote, so maybe they have to get out of their homes and figure that one out.

I don't think my parents experience was unique, I think there are many immigrants who did the same. My parents fled El Salvador during the Civil War, it wasn't so much that they were looking for a brighter and better future. While part of it, it was mostly surviving.

Both Dem or Rep politicians using immigrants to bolster their platforms is wrong. You can't take on millions and millions of people and expect things to not go bad. Not just for this country but for the lives of desperate people looking for an opportunity also. Many people are making long grueling and dangerous journeys over to this country, many don't even make it. Children are getting trafficked. Women are getting trafficked. Because some dumb ass politician in Cali says its fine and a lawyer will be waiting for you to help you dreams come true?

Same with a Rep that wants to shut down immigration all together. That's not what makes this country great. That's not how this country was built.

Also big difference between ILLEGAL and LEGAL immigration

Had a friend who got her undergrad at UT Austin and MBA at Duke but lost the green card roulette system
which is stupid by the way

obviously she's smart enough and well qualified to work a very high paying job here
The irony here is that she had to work in Mexico for awhile until she married a GRINGO to get back in the states.

Never once did she try to 'cross the border'.

Open borders is a bad policy.
only lunatics think that's good idea.

Legal immigration should always be the way.
