Say whatever you want, but in the most important issue of our time, Liz Cheney stood for what was right and paid the ultimate political price when most of her colleagues either embraced the darkness or hid away.

When does justice get here for the people who tried to steal a free and fair election?

Cheney is as conservative as can be. She also has principles that cause her to stand up against leaders that start coups, but for some reason people on this bbs celebrate her loss.

Why? What policy positions of Cheney's are you against?

I might not agree with her conservative views, but at least she doesn't turn a blind eye to that horrible day of Jan 6th, when an American President incited a coup to stay in power. It's sickening how the majority of her party just tucked their tails between their legs and hid from the truth, pretending a terrible crime hadn't been committed.

Don't bother - you're dealing with a literal Trump dead-ender as in "was framed by FBI" level of pathology

it goes beyond Jan 6. She’s a lonely person in Washington shouting from the mountain top that the end is coming. So many are blind to what’s happening. Republican government itself is heading towards the cliff. Not because of Jan 6, but because of every leading up to it, everything since and everything that one side proposes to do going forward.

Liz Cheney losing the WY primary is as surprising as the Rockets not making the Playoffs. She knew this was going to happen and still pursued justice. More telling that she didn’t vote for the first impeachment of Trump and had voted with him more than 90% of the time.

Contrast her stand with Lindsey Graham who in 2016 called Trump a racist and a kook. Who in the night of Jan. 6 said he was done with Trump who then a few weeks later said the GOP couldn’t win without Trump. Ted Cruz who refused to endorse Trump at the 2016 convention only to become one of his biggest toadies. Kevin McCarthy who the day after Jan, 6th laid the blame for it on Trump. Two weeks later though shows up at Mara-a-Lago to kiss Trump’s @ss.

Liz Cheney showed what political courage and conviction is while so many Republicans just caved in. She knew that somethings are more important than just winning elections, catering to the base or owning the libs. Unlike so many Republicans / Conservatives who claim they don’t like Trump yet will still defend him she actually followed her principles in speech and action.

For all of those Republicans who claim they don’t want Trump and don’t won’t to hear about him if many more of them followed Cheney he would be largely irrelevant now.

Unlike other defectors in the past (Flake, etc.) Liz really actually seems like she has a plan too, and carries a confidence that she knows what she's doing, and has bigger plans than being a guest on MSNBC. It seems obvious that she has a plan for the Republican party too, and not just planning on being a Democratic party coalition contributor.... as productive as it is to bring in those former Republicans to expand the big tent.

I think there's more confidence in Cheney's post defection run to recapture the right because of the power her father and others in the billionaire class have behind the scenes. I could see a 6 month stretch where every fossil fuel billionaire has a meeting with her and Dick and basically get undressed and bullied into pulling their money from one place to another. The Cheney's aren't Democrats, and play hardball behind the scenes.

    ....

However.... I think Liz Cheney right now... if she was running for President (despite her record voting with Trump 93% of the time) would actually pull votes AWAY from Democrats if Trump and a Democrat were also on the ballot. Liz Cheney would actually need to do the hard work to A. Take down the money and support for the Trump cult behind the scenes... which I think she can do... .and B. Win back the Trump fans via the media by going back to immigration issues, anti-climate, pro-guns, etc. etc.

Because right now her candidacy would essentially be about 1 issue.... Pro-Democracy... and right now exactly zero GOP voters care about Democracy. So she's got a really really difficult job to do in just 2 years or else as a Pro-Democracy Republicans she'll just siphon votes away from Democrats, and put Trump back in office. Liz is smart enough to know that's the case too.

Or the traditional parting gift we give politicians: top-secret nuclear documents.

Russian bots and Trump rim lickers don't have policy positions. They just like the taste of Putin's and Trump's rim

    Pretty much this.

It's become cultish to the point where You Don't Talk About Fight Club, and cult members get testy when someone points out the bruises.
