Donald Trump broke the law by withholding presidential records including classified records at his personal resort. If you or I did this, we’d be facing the same charges. Reality Winter went to prison for 5 years because she improperly disclosed a classified document. Trump kept at least 11, including ones that are not allowed outside of the secure room. Trumps lawyer said Trump did not have these documents. There is a lot of suggestion what may or may not be in these records but at the end of the day he was explicitly not supposed to have them. No one should be above the law in the US.
When I think of Boomers I think of two things: 1) A generation that grew up during the most peaceful and prosperous time in American history (possibly world history). 2) The first generation to exist in a mass-media driven, car-centric world. When you look at em that way, they never had much chance.
We (Hillary voters) were not calling for physical harm to the FBI when Comey announced that Clinton was under investigation again days before the election. Rachael Maddow was not implying bad things were going to happen to FBI agents and the DOJ because Hillary was being investigated. Hillary’s crime was she used a private server for work. Hillary was thoroughly investigated for it. She lost the election in part because of it. The next White House administration ironically did the same thing. Trump’s crime was he kept these records at Mar-a-Lago after his presidential term ended. The DOJ believes there is sufficient evidence on top of this impropriety to go for charges of espionage.
@Trader_Jorge I wish Trump hadn’t kept these records or was being accused of committing more crimes. I wish he would’ve faded into the sunset like every other former president to date. His bombastic actions always take the oxygen out of the room in the sense none of the other political news are being covered adequately. Hell, this episode likely killed DeSantis’ presidential bid. Why the GOP continues to pledge fealty to this guy is beyond me. Instead your party chews up and spits out anyone who disagrees with Trump, even if they’re more conservative on all the issues (see Liz Cheney or Dan Crenshaw).

We don't know exactly what was in the SCI documents Trump had at Mar-a-Lago. We do know that he shouldn't have had them there, refused requests and subpoena's to hand them over and lied about it. It was timed just outside of the 90-day window before midterms. It was intended to collect documents for the continuing January 6th farce. No reasonable minded person believes that the documents that Trump showed to the FBI in June and secured according to their demands are a national security threat. It's absurd in the highest degree. Oh, but surely there is evidence... just like the Steele dossier was evidence that needed to be investigated by a Special Counsel for 3 years? And conveniently the evidence (affidavit underpinning the warrant) is not something the DOJ is willing to share publicly. What a surprise! The evidence is plain and different than what Trump did in June. The documents seized weren't declassified. The DOJ presented evidence to an independent federal judge that they had probable cause to believe evidence of criminal activity was present at the resort. They stated the type of evidence they believed was there and the locations. The inventory showed that indeed, the still classified documents were there just as they asserted to the Federal Judge. They were specific in what they asked for. They found exactly what they searched for.
This is Biden's Watergate. Nixon was impeached and quit over limited knowledge of a break-in to acquire information on a political opponent. This is a far more flagrant abuse of power to target a political opponent. Our government agencies have been tarnished by the Democrats' shameful quest to hold on to power.

Am I talking to a Breitbart muckracker or the legendary @Trader_Jorge? Obama’s unclassified presidential records are being in the custody of the federal government in Chicago until his library opens. The classified ones are in the Archives. They’re not in the Obama’s home or beach home. Trump cannot unilaterally declassify the majority of confidential documents and more importantly he cannot declassify nuclear secrets. If Trump applied for declassification of said documents, then that can be readily shown and the investigation over improperly stored presidential records becomes a lot less serious for the nation but a crime none the less. January 6 was not a farce. We watched it live on TV. Donald Trump and his core supporters wanted to stop Pence from certifying the election results. Trumps lawyers floated many zany political theories to how he could retain power. The Mueller investigation yielded multiple convictions including foreign agent and disgraced general Michael Flynn. The Dossier was not the why Michael Cohen went to prison. And the Mueller report was squashed as soon as Bill Barr took over. A lot of guilty witches for a supposed witch hunt. You believe in US institutions as much as the rest of us. You may not like the optics of Trump’s resort being raided, but that’s where the contraband was being kept. The orgs are not immune to politicization, but their mission is explicitly to enforce the laws of the land.
