Lol. There isn't something off about KPJ? Nobody wants KPJ either. He's nowhere close to Kyrie I'm talent. That's just reality
OMG. Dream scenario. If Durant retired the Nets just lose the ability to add any additional talent entirely. They'd be stuck with Ben Simmons, Kyrie and scraps. Who cares if they want to avoid tanking then? A combined 80-100 games out of Simmons and Irving combined isn't getting them anywhere. Our picks would be pure gold.
What did the Nets do to piss off Durant so much? I don't recall any news of getting into any fights with coaches or front office last year. This just came out of nowhere. I'm wondering if his camp is exaggerating just how much he hates the Nets organization to push them to look for a trade.
So you're telling me that on a future home game, the Nets could sit 3 "physically healthy" players taking 60% of their cap? What kind of dirt do they have on that team...
Nets should really just tank. Very hard to see Houston getting more than 30 wins If the Nets did an organic tank, they probably win 30 anyway (like trade all of Kyrie Ben and KD then maximise the value of their other players to potentially flip them for further picks). Even if they won the lotto, they may well still end up with a top 5 pick from Houston (literally could 2nd pick) - and possibly picking above the position they finish at in a draft that looks quite interesting.
If the Nets decide to tank this year, both the Nets and the Rockets may end up with a high pick. A rare draft pick trade result.
They need a loyal fan base to be able to attract free agents and to generally have a viable business. "Joe Tsai, whose teams and Barclays Center generated $343 million in revenue this year, wants to reach the $500 million plateau in three years and $1 billion in seven. Without a wining club, or at least stars if not superstars, that seems like a difficult, if not impossible, goal to reach." - this quote comes up when doing a quick search on "Nets tickets sales". MSG generated 1.6 billion in 2018 for comparison. They don't want to tank even if they had their picks.
Durant wants to win. He came to the Nets to win. They don't look capable of being more than a speed bump in the first round or second round if lucky.
