Here’s the thing- he hasn’t hit a Hr in 7 weeks, he’s a first baseman for goodness sake, and he has an OPS under 700 while also having negative defensive value per the fielding metrics. He isn’t incapable of getting the occasional hit but all his main numbers suck, all the secondary numbers suggest it’s even worse than the counting stats would suggest when you take into account quality of contact, and we now traded for an actual major league caliber 1B who is flat better than Yuli. It’s rational and reasonable to want Trey to start instead of Yuli.

it’s unbelievable that you have to point this out. Just amazes me that people get mad and think they have to defend such garbage play.

He’s been a stalwart since we got good. He is a fun guy and a fan favorite. I get it. It’s just that his time should be done.

Agree on all points. He appears done but unfortunately this wasn’t supposed to be a “he’s done let’s give him a great send off” year coming off a batting title so I think the FO is doing this as gently as possible but ya gotta get Mancini in the games and I’d still flip Peña and Yuli

Nice win. Abreu looking more and more like the future closer. To me, anyway.

At this point, his best role is to be the first guy off the bench in a spot where you really need a hit (not a homer, a single or double).

You can’t really argue against this. You’ve got to put your best out there. Yuli still has value, but right now he’s simply not your best option.

I've been thinking the same thing since May. He seems to have the right make up to me.

Not with that Presley extension, hopefully, or it will mean something has gone wrong there. Abreu will reach FA before that Presley deal is done. I’m not opposed to him being a dominant 8th inning guy though.

Dang. Yankees almost choked again in the bottom of the 9th. Oh well.

This was one of the best victories of the season for the good guys tonight.

I remember Strommy saying he saw Abreu as a starter 1 day but I will be happy with a solid relief role

He is not better defensively. Yuli is a singles and doubles guy. Always been. Hitting HRs is not needed on this Astros’ team.

Can someone explain to me why we are playing another 17 day stretch with no day off next month?

After playing 19 games in 18 days not too long ago?

And the Yankees, for their longest stretch remaining is 12??????

    Wtf bro
