This is too far. I think Islam has a problem, but a case like this shouldn’t prompt such a response. There are batshit craxy individuals, Islam just has a lot more and needs to get ahold of them

if anything, this past year has taught me that Christianity itself is not very tolerant. I see hateful messages and militant type behavior in trying to get abortion clinics shutdown, bombings being averted. The other day there was a dude outside a planned parenthood with his kids calling girls walking by sluts and baby killers. People like him have stormed the capital and up until 50 years ago lynching black ppl, some in the name of Christ

our current anti abortion laws, which are almost exclusively religiously motivated don’t even allow for exemptions for things like ectopic pregnancies which are non viable and carry a high mortality out the woman’s life at risk for something that could never be a baby. That’s a systematic practice and in a way is forcing religion on to people and will likely lead to more deaths than Islamic terroitst attacks in the last couple of years.

There have been a lot of crazy Muslims and the majority have been religiously motivated to carry out heinous acts. A single individual like this going out and stabbing someone leads me to believe he’s not normal to begin with.


Hope Salman makes a speedy recovery, he may have some nasty wounds but will likely be ok. It’s insane that someone would want to try to kill another person and be jailed for something so trivial as criticism of a religion

 

Unfortunately, we are not talking about a single deranged individual here.

Not to interrupt any of the religious arguments, but:

• Hoping for healing and more interesting interviews and written words from Rushdie. I'm not so sure he's going to make it.
• Have read via BBC that there were two security officials present but I guess not in front of Rushdie, and there were no metal detectors. Rushdie just a few months ago noted that he wasn't worried anymore.

Okay, back the religious argument.

JFC! (religious reference) I never knew that. So that's at least four casualties because a religious leader couldn't just tell people to avoid reading a book, or even to just burn copies of the book, or to have the book banned in some bass-ackwards religious state or another. Still stunning to me.
