Yeah, I don’t know. Maybe he’s not in a position to very easily obtain the records, and he’s not interested in chasing them down just to satisfy some strangers on a message board. Or maybe he’s still resentful about some of the comments some posters have made, and is hoping to get the satisfaction of seeing them pay with their wallet for it. I just think the idea that he’d totally make this up is very, very weird and hard to imagine, unless he has a history of doing something like this before.

Obviously, you're right that I won't. While I'm mildly curious whether his story is real or not, I'm not going to risk hundreds of dollars to find out! Less obvious is why you wouldn't given your 100% confidence that the story is made up. I suppose you think he'd go to the lengths of doctoring documents to squirm his way out of paying for the bet, but even in that case it probably wouldn't be too much trouble to verify whether the documents are legit or not.
Actually, with regards to this thread topic, I feel safe in saying we have only 2 categories: Category 1 (you) Category 2 (everyone else that isn't you) I will defer to someone else that is more clever and thoughtful than I am to label those categories.

More than happy to transfer the money ahead of time to a 3rd party holding. I also trust any of the admins to serve that purpose and they may be willing to participate to get extra money for the site. It is your chance to not only prove me completely wrong but to get me to contribute to a site you love! It may be weird but you are making a liar do something positive for Clutchfans. Sounds pretty good to me. Give me a timeframe to produce the evidence so your time won't be wasted. If I can't, it was clear I made all of this up and I won't be able to "not honor it" (money is not in my possession at that point). There is no way for me to back out. The admins can shut the thread down. You can say whatever you want, I know that nobody is willing to take the bet because nobody is nearly as confident as they are projecting. I mean I don't think you are 7 feet tall @King1. I would be willing to make a $2000 bet with you right now that you aren't. Why would I not take a bet that I think is that much of a certainty? You respond "bet", you win because I am a liar, and my money goes to CF. If you (or anybody else) don't want to participate in the bet, then great. If you think it was made up, great. Go check out the other threads that weren't started by a liar. Give them your attention and energy. Stop wasting your own time on this.
Nobody wants to do a bet with you. You are the only person posting here with access to the facts of the story you posted. How would that even be a fair bet? Just provide facts. Until then, don't be surprised if people don't believe you. (I don't know if what you wrote is true or not. If it is, I certainly hope your brother recovers fully. But stop this attention-whoring about a bet nobody wants to take.)
@Vivid, if you provide proof, you can have the satisfaction of having shown that anyone who immediately leapt to the conclusion that you were lying was foolish. You may not get them to apologize, but you’ll have nevertheless exposed them and successfully defended yourself against them tarnishing your reputation here. You came here to share this story. Why are you so adamant that people should lose money over this whole thing to make sharing more worth your while? Is a police report or hospital record really that difficult for you to obtain?
I'm sorry you think the bet is unfair. Not surprised that people don't believe. Also don't care if anybody pays attention. To be clear, nobody has to take the bet and everybody is welcome to put me on their ignore list. I do hope everybody here is happy or headed in that direction.
