You are making up bullshit, Dusty does not have complete autonomy , and you are just regurgitating a myth about Straw and Straw was a better hitter than Meyers, but now Dusty should have been playing Meyers over Straw?

And you eally think Dusty would be able to sit a guy out of spite.

    WTF?

That's the most ridiculous thing ever, do you have any links to actual reports about this?

So it was not about our BP needing help or that we got Matton and the catcher, it was all about teaching Dusty a lesson?

    Hilarious.

    In short

Yuli has tenure so he's gonna play almost everyday, IDGAF if Mancini is actually a better player.

So we are ok with a solid season now?

So why have people been trying to get rid of Gurriel going on 3 years when he has more than solid seasons?

There are a lot of negative presence in the lineup and Mancini could replace most of them, but for some reason Gurriel is the guy.

Is first base really a position where you sacrifice offense for defense? It’s not C, or SS, CF or 2B or 3B.

    Yes

Nobody has been demanding to dump Yuli prior to this year, complete strawman

Mancini can't play CF or catcher, or SS, positions with major defensive value. He can play first, a position with just about the least defensive value, and he plays it pretty much as well as Yuli, if you believe stats anyway.

I agree its too small of a sample size, just saying it's hard to say he is "better" against LHP when the numbers don't agree

Meyers is totally overmatched right now vs all pitching. He very likely still has a very good future ahead of him, but right now he should be in AAA

I think there are competing goals here. Is the goal to win today's game? Or is the goal to have the best team possible in October? Dusty's view may be "I don't care about today, but to win in October, I NEED Jake and Yuli, etc better than they are now". Maybe he feels he knows what he has in Mancini and is more focused on getting other players right instead of winning now. It would explain Chas with "I know Chas is great against lefties but I need him to be better against righties" too.

Or he's just an idiot. Who really knows.

    Dusty makes the lineups, period.

The front office gives their opinions, but Click doesn't step in and say "no Dusty, you are playing so and so today"

In fact, front offices would be much more likely to step in when they don't want someone playing due to health than anything else. Certainly they talk about who they like in certain positions and those things. But on a day to day basis, Dusty Baker writes out the lineup card

I think we are at the point now that even you realize his lineups are terrible, so you are looking for ways to deflect from them

So he doesn't want to play Mancini against ground ball pitchers or against fly ball pitchers

Cool, at least he cleared that all up

Dusty DOES suck, this team wins in spite of Dusty and could be so much more. He was a band aid hire and it's turned into a joke.

It's not a completely absurd argument in a vaccum.

But if anything Yuli needs more days off. Try to do something different becasue at 400 PA, we're way past the point of a guy that "just needs to get going". Having said that, Yuli starting doesn't bother me as much as Mancini not starting, in LF for that matter since we're experimenting and willing to sacrifice regular season games. If Yuli does get going (one can hope), Mancini still needs to start somewhere in October. A Framber start is the perfect time to give him some LF MMP reps.

I'm more OK with the Meyers experiment. We have no good everyday options in CF, he's likely our only avenue to one, and his sample size of suck is much smaller than Yuli's this season, and he doesn't have the age red flag.

Can someone encourage Dusty to go play on the train tracks?

Depends on the tradeoff. 1B defense is undervalued. Only the pitcher and catcher handle the ball more.

That said, I don't think Mancini is a terrible 1B, and he can play DH & LF (though I prefer not with his lack of speed). There is zero reason Mancini shouldn't be starting at least 5 days per week.

    Ok.

I'm done you can continue to defend this hill you are own, I'd rather just enjoy how good the team is and not nitpick everyday decisions.

    Continue to be miserable.
