Peter King's opinion on this is honestly not worth much. When was the last time you've ever read an article written by him that was critical of the NFL or Roger Goodell...i'll wait.
Goodell is so full of ****. He’s the ultimate white knight. He’s going to talk tough then let someone else make the decision so none of it blows back on him or the league. It’s all so damn phony.
Honest question that's coming from an admittedly selfish place: If Deshaun is indeed suspended for the year, and they run Jacoby Brissett out there instead, what's the ceiling for the Browns this year??
This. This is what I've been thinking for a while. It's not the guarantees, it's the structure. It's effectively sidestepping any consequence for his actions. The Browns were willing to participate in his ducking of the penalties that were almost certain to come. That's a really bad precedent and look.
Went 8-9 with Baker (6-8 actually; 2-0 with Keenum, 0-1 with Nick Mullens) @ Panthers Jets Steelers @ Falcons Chargers Patriots @ Ravens Bengals BYE @ Dolphins @ Bills Bucs @ Texans @ Bengals Ravens Saints @ Commanders @ Steelers Just spitballing: 4-5 games with Brissett, maybe they can match the 8-9 if they get ‘Jimmy G The great’. *Assuming he even stays/is healthy
That schedule looks easy. Browns look like they have 7 easy wins. Then how many division games can they steal? Steelers aren't great and have no qb.
I think they have to have a decision on this before the game on Friday. Allowing him back on the field would be a middle finger to the league and more importantly, to his many, many victims.
Its the 1st preseason game, he will only play 1 or 2 series, so why botther rushing a decision, worse would be if the 3 preseason games would count against the 6 game suspension smh, that would be awful for the victims, to punish him in exhibition games. I dont think really think they would risk an injury by make him play the entire game, with backups most of the game.
