Right wing Trumpers are losing it over a legally issued search warrant. But nobody should be surprised. There are photos of documents he lied about and destroyed in a toilet. Why are there photos of that? Who would take those pictures? Strange stuff. But not surprising. Remember the DoJ also recently executed a warrant to seize Attorney Eastman's phone, and then another to get information from that. I wonder if there were texts or communication on that which might have also played a role. Who knows? We'll find out eventually.
Do you understand how warrants work? Are you aware there is photographic evidence of trying to flush documents down a toilet? Why is this raid some scary politics only move? Are you aware of what was presented to the independent judge as probable cause?

A few things: 1. After Republicans swept both houses in 2016 they changed the laws around removing federal docs from a misdemeanor to a felony in the hopes that they could get Hillary on something. But this is not federal records, it's presidential records, which fall under a different law. 2. The Presidential Records Act was passed post-Watergate after fears Nixon could have taken records, including tapes, to California and destroyed them. 3. All presidential records and documents must be preserved. The president gets no say at all in that. An ex-president only has limited powers when it comes to the timing of the release of some records. 4. At the end of each administration, the National Archives takes custody of all the records and documents. Since the president lives in the White House, the National Archives then makes the initial determination as to what is a presidential record and what is a personal record--that is, what relates to the official duties of the president and what relates to the private life. 5. If convicted of absconding with federal or presidential records, one of the penalties is a prohibition against ever serving in any federal office. (That's one reason this idea that Trump was orchestrating the raid is absurd.) 6. He already returned some of the records he took from the White House. For this raid to take place, there had to credible evidence that other records were still there. 7. That there was a raid instead of some correspondence that asks for the return of the records does not make sense (in my mind) unless he was sharing those documents with others. 8. It's not a home. It's a resort. Every major country--China, Russia, France, India, Saudi Arabia, UK, Germany, Japan, etc.--has to have some kind of agent on staff there. It would be statecraft malpractice if they did not. If they are there, it would be statecraft malpractice for us not to have a source there too--not only to keep tabs on the others, but to monitor the comings and goings at Mar-A-Lago to identify any security risks. 9. Don't test archivists. They know what should be there and will have a good idea as to what's missing. Watergate, Iran-Contra, Plame--they've been through this before.
If they find criminal stuff on Trump, then sobeit. If they don't, heads need to roll at the FBI and DOJ. Period.
