He has keys to the team and we are worst in the league. No one on this team should get max/big contract until his play contributes to winning games
He was a net positive last season, one of the few on the entire team. It's not his fault that his teammates were garbage for so much of the season. Blaming him for it is more than just a little bit dishonest. If Stone had moved wood at the deadline, if Tate was nailed to the bench, if Sengun was allowed to play more, the Rockets would have had a better record. They didn't want a better record.
But you said if KPJ was even half the passer that Sengun was that he should get a max. I proved that he was. You guys keep wincing and looking away from the data as if the numbers are wrong or something. Its funny you have to admit. Whatever you do DO NOT COMPARE THEIR PER 36 NUMBERS!! I warned you!
Its not blaming… its just not worth the big contract. Doncic got a max but Doncic turned similiar roster into WCF. I know its a big gap but essentialy biggest contracts should be for best players, KPJ will at best be good NBA starter. Cant overpay him until he proves anything
Seahawks liked TJ Housmandzanda and gave him big money to be a number 1 receiver. They soon found out he was just a number 2 receiver all along. Even though TJ did well when Chad Johnson was out. It takes doing it for the full season. Brunson? The bar is set. A water pump for a Mercedes engine doesn't work on a F-150 truck.....but they both are water pumps. Not all PG's had the same role with the same teammates with the same spacing.....tanking while the other team wasn't. Reeko is just a sportscaster....reporting stats as is. Doesn't know how they got there though. Summer class is over.....I'm not taking on new students to teach like him. Lol. Keep cool VC. Now you know a little something something about basketball my friend. Porter will have a bust out season and many will say we got lucky.....I'm Predicting THE STATS IN ADVANCE OF THE SEASON. In order to get to the playoffs...you have to go through the regular season first. That's why regular season stats are important. Take care.
I don't think anyone is taking about a big contract... also it'll be interesting to see if you stay consistent. If the Rockets don't go to the WCF will you be advocating for lowballing Green and Smith too? Kind of sounds like a recipe for the team being terrible forever.
How do you already know what green and smith will be worth? I’m also still baffled as to why a bad knicks contract means the rockets should also do it. The only deals that get brought up are bad ones and how kpj is better (obviously he hasn’t been better then brunson, but whatever). Why make a mistake just because worse mistakes have been made?
Ok so the goalposts are now at anticipatory passing? Sengun making reads in his best skill? SMH. Its the twilight zone around here.
Did you read what you are attempting to respond to? The excuse given for lowball offers was that the Rockets didn't make the WCF... so I asked if other players would be held to that standard. Also, is anyone basing anything on a bad Knicks contract? It's been spelled out for you several times that a contract in the 15-18 mill a year range isn't a 'big contract" by today's standards..... and that's not based on any one contract, but all of them. Paying KPJ a year early like a top 25 PG wouldn't be a "mistake", there's essentially no downside..... especially given the fact that they'll be paying him a lot more next season if they wait.
We just view him differently, I would want to see him at least be decent for a season before paying him. If you give him 4/60 even and he has an incident again this year, he becomes pure dead salary. That’s a risk.
The KPJ only fans on here are starting to sound eerily similar to the jamokes on Twitter that were barking at Clutch
I'm not sure you know what a "decent" season looks like though especially given that you seem to think he was terrible last year. So I'm not sure there's anything that would change your mind. If you have him 4/60, that would be an amazing value contract...I know you are holding out hope that he'll become a menace to society and start killing people, but that's about the only way a mid tier contract would be a negative asset for someone that talented.
Given that salary caps are probably going to creep to about 175Ms per team with the new TV deal 4/60 would be considered "low", but yeah thats 2-3 years away. Incidentally, the team will need some higher cap numbers amongst the team contracts to be able to shake and bake in the trade market. KPJ is not looked down on among most of the NBA community the same way he is here thats for sure. He would be an easy move even with 15M annual salary.
