He said $12-13M was a reasonable salary a few pages back yet he bet his sig that KPJ would get over $20M. :D

The rockets were also 4th in the league in number of possessions per game, while 21st in total passes and 27th in secondary assists. As the eye-test can verify, there is not much of a ball movement, and the plan is to shoot or attack the basket after one pass. The latter of the two largely has not much to do with the passer (and in my opinion should not be counted as assists). KPJ as the main ball handler gets the most passes that could turn into assists, and for his playing time and role his numbers are nothing spectacular (quite average indeed). And these are on a bottom team not facing top defense. Other than that, I have the eye-test. I go and have a look at his assists on nba.com. It fits my eye-test from the season. His court-vision is improving but nothing spectacular.

In general, KPJ showed much more improvement than I expected him to. If he accepts his role, I think this is a team where he can flourish. But he is no soon-to-be-all-star or max-contract player, and he has attitude, maturity problems. If you make an accident, your insurance goes up. You need to have some accident free years for it to go down.

Now you want to pull up what people predicted for Green and what people are predicting for Smith this year?

Yeah fans go over board but stop acting like its just KPJ ones just look at what people are predicting for Green to do this year.

Because we're talking about giving KPJ a contract right now after this past season???

You do realize we can wait until after this upcoming season and still resign him right? He's a restricted free agent, we have control. I'm merely saying all I'd sign at this moment is a team friendly deal, otherwise I'd wait until after he gives us another season to show what he's got

point out all the people with outlandish Jalen Green predictions on here pretending that they're the smartest, then your reply won't be useless

LOL now we out here saying what should what should not be counted as assist to make an argument, why the **** do I care what your opinion of an assist is, can I do the same for Senguns assists?

    Eye test my ass.

Who said his court vision was spectacular anyway?

Yeah after this season, he has an entire season to either regress or build on what he has done.

Nobody is really advocating for him to be maxed out now, at least I am not.

How do I point out people pretending they're the smartest?

How is that different from people saying KPJ is a scrub pretending they are the smartest?

All I'm saying if we can get him on at $10 million or less a year now (and could go slightly more with some team friendly things in it), sign me up

If he wants more than that, lets give him a season, even if it ends up costing more in the end.

I still believe in the dude and I want to keep him on the team. I just don't want to jump the gun on the signing at more money than we should right now, in this moment. We'll have way more data after the season

Sure, you can do it for Sengun's assists.

The point was the assist stat does not distinguish between actually creating a shot for someone, and the player creating for himself after getting the pass. Hence making evaluation of 'shot creation for others' harder. That is a weakness of the stat. Since court vision and shot creation is the topic, and number of assists is used to justify that, I pointed out that you cannot do it just by saying he averages 6 assists a game. There are many things that factor in.

Homely there's a range of acceptable opinions about this. It's understandable to say you think it's too likely that he'll act up so you want to get a "prove it year", it's understandable to want to get a discount deal done now because you think it's likely he earns more than that next year.

Those are the 2 reasonable sides of this discussion.

As far as I can tell, the extremists are all on one side, suggesting he's not a good player or that no deal should be done no matter what.

Some of that may be attention seeking trolling, some may just be that dumb.

If you are posting highlight videos of KPJ when this team has been worst in the league 2 seasons running, you are an extremist fanboi. He hasn't proven anything except he can pout when he gets mad. I'll give him this year and it's a short leash.

Dont take the bait! The debate is WAAYYY past the "KPJ is not a good POINT guard" discussion. It now hinges on him turning into a menace to society this season! His passing acumen is elite. He lacks some scoring metrics, but thats why he has Jalen. Add a year of development from Sengun and hopefully Jabari Smith can live up to expectation as a shooter and it should lead to a career year for Scooter.

BTW I'd max out KPJ NOW! LOL -- I was called a Jalen Green fanboy early. I feel nothing being called another one for KPJ. I'll stan for all our Rockets indiscriminately. A max level deal NOW may look like a bargain when the new TV money gets shelled out. Another thing isnt it supremely ironic now people here trying to be careful with Tilman Fertittas money?

This is a good example of a stupid take.

Most realize that basketball is a team game, would you think it was "extremists" to post KD highlights when his team was a 20 win team?

Do you think it's just "extremists"who would post Jalen Green highlights?

Players can show potential no matter how trash the team is overall.

He is graded the same way for assist as everybody else and the Rockets did nothing different from anybody else to get assist numbers up.

Yeah, I can do it by saying averages 6 assist a game because I am comparing it to same way everybody else gets an assist.

You act like he had somebody cherry picking half his assist, he had a team that had terrible spacing and no great 3 point shooters, how is getting an easy assist?
