It's great he gave a million, finally a Rocket's owner that cares. Of course the previous uncaring owner gave 10 million, 10x what Tillman is giving, to Houston for Harvey relief. But who cares?
As far as I know, there's no reason to think his son is an idiot. He hasn't done anything to make people think he's god's gift to basketball, but he hasn't done anything bad. I think the fairest thing to do is to either be hopeful or neutral on him.
I'm not a supporter of Les or against him either, I am just trying to get why Les who gave 10 million doesn't care about the city compared to a guy who gave 1 million.
Rockets were always competitive under Les. Love him for that. Beginning was rocky for Tilly, but the rebuild has been great. Raf has been fantastic. Overall, happy to be a Houston Rockets fan.
We were competitive because of the superstars. We weren't competitive between the Dream era and the Yao-TMac era, and between the Yao-TMac era and the Harden era. Those in-between times were pretty depressing. Tilman's greatest sin so far is cutting short the Harden-Paul era and did not go all-in in order to save luxury tax. I hope we will soon witness another era beginning when Green and Co. emerge.

You can carry his jock because he's right wing and hate Les (who did so much more for the city) because you see him as a carpet bagger liberal. But the reality is Les was far better of an owner in and out of the front office. He let Morey do his job (he hired Morey and didn't try to put his son in), and he not only gave millions to the city, but made it part of Rockets culture to do community work in the city leading to 10's of millions dollars more. He also didn't destroy a 60 win team because he had written a book and thought he knew more about basketball than people in basketball. I pray that Tilman lets Stone run this team and doesn't try to get cheap again when it comes to resigning all the talent.
