Miles Bridges was suppose to be one of the top free agent targets this summer. Had he hurt his wife two months later, some team (Detroit) would have given Miles Bridges a truck load of money......and then Pow!! How many predicted that? Who's computer algorithm saw that coming? My point being tha you can't minimize risk when it comes to NBA, NFL, MLB players. Even with private investigators trailing them. Is the answer, we don't give anyone a max deal? Good luck with that.
Agreed. I do think some people trash on KPJ way too much. But I also think even if you LOVE KPJ, there are really good reasons not to extend him on a contract that might potentially be difficult to move. If nothing else, suppose this team finishes the season bottom-5 (likely) and the best player available directly overlaps with KPJ -- what do you do? Do you stick to KPJ and draft the second best available player because you see KPJ as special? Do you bring KPJ off the bench? Do you move him to a different role, and if so, what is that role? The good thing is we don't have to figure all of that out right now. But if you lock yourself into a long term deal with him, those questions become a lot more difficult and complicate a bunch of things at a crucial point in your rebuild.
Point out who they are, because the members I see who support KPJ as a player wouldn't say the abysmal nonsense directed towards Clutch on Twitter. I certainly didn't recognize the monikers. I'll add that Don is well known around here, but I don't see a post from him in this thread. Are you just joking?
Somebody shot me a comment that I was crazy for offering Porter Max Money. I replied I didn't see offering Porter Jr $15 to $18 Mil as max money. Brunson at $27 Mil is max money. I brought Bridges into as a guy going into free agency that had pretty much a clean record for years and then screwing up. So what difference does it make if Porter has no incidents this year.... If the Rockets don't trust him now.....then they won't a year from now. Miles Bridges is an example that you can't expect any of these guys not to screw up. Porter can be clean and then screw up after inking his new deal a month later. Let's just move him like we did Wood. Tari and Bari are there to replace Wood.... Mathews, Eric Gordon, Nix, TyTy and J Christopher are there as well to replace Porter. Nwaba, Sterling Brown or Trey Burke. We had Wood as a Restricted Free agent next summer as we do with Porter. We didn't hesitate to move him. https://hoopshype.com/rumor/miles-bridges-to-command-25-million-plus-in-free-agency/
KPJr’s issue isn’t just whatever he’s done off the court, that’s just icing on the cake…he’s been straight up mediocre at best on the court so far in his career as well when it comes to off the court, he has had an issue every year for the past several, so there is an obvious reason why people don’t trust him those executives who were talking about a possible max for the likes of Miles Bridges before the domestic violence case were telling good jokes because we’d all be laughing at whoever had offered him that…just because other teams are willing to be dumb doesn’t mean we should be making decisions off of that
I disagree. But I've posted stats over and over....not going to keep trying to explain the presence of Wood and Wall and no spacing from multiple poor 3-pt shooters cause and effect on stats of the Rockets. It takes two to tango and it takes two to get assists. I've mentioned Josh Allen being described as garbage his rookie season; but his receiving corp sucked and could not get separation....then they went out in free agency and got receivers. Been a top quarterback since. Saw a program ranking NFL quarterbacks going into this season: Brady #1, Rodgers #2, Mahomes#3, Josh Allen #4. So it's not always the individual but also those around you. Brunson was SG as Doncic was listed as PG 97% of the time according to basketball-referenc.com. Brunson was about 48% of the time. Doncic (21/22) had a USG% of 37.4% to Brunson 21.9 USG% Dinwiddie 22.3 USG% Hardaway 22.0 USG%. Some have argued Brunson did good when Doncic sat. Yeah when Doncic sat so did some opponents starters as they rested when Doncic did. They played few games without Doncic. And Brunson shared duties with either Dinwiddie (trade acquisition) or Hardaway (injury). Let's see Brunson numbers next to Julius Randall and Barrett. I'm saying Porter numbers were similar to Brunson and Brunson got $27.7M this summer. I predict Porter numbers will improve off of his last 39 games and even better than his last 22 games. Which will net him an offer around $25M next summer. Porter stats were better than Harden with exception to points. Hardens first two years with Houston that is. Harden first g at point guard vs Porter first full season at Point Guard. And I would argue Harden had more help in and a structured offense as the team was 9th season a couple of seasons prior to Harden. Silas says he ran plain vanilla offense and defense at years end. Things will pick up a few notches this season. Put stats when I said I wouldn't. Anyway watch the podcast on Porter extension here on the forum with Latch and Jackson Gatlin. They clearly state there is no doubt as to Porter on the court.....it's nearly a matter of off court stuff. To that I agree.
Wall wasn’t even on the team last year Brunson played 17 games without Doncic in the lineup…nobody is talking about his numbers when Luka was available, but on the bench, so Idk why you’re talking about the opponent’s starters were also resting…they weren’t in those 17 games, he averaged 20, 4, and 8 with 2 turnovers on 49/35/81 splits as the Mavs went .500…all but 2 of those games were before Dinwiddie even arrived on the team Dinwiddie is an average player…THJr didn’t even shoot 40% from the field this year, and was way below average from 3…let’s not act like Dallas is just full of elite players Brunson played 3 playoff games without Luka and averaged 32, 5, and 5 shooting 51% from the field Porter’s numbers were not similar to Brunson’s once u get past the basic surface level…it’s obvious they weren’t on the same tier last year Demar Derozan averaged 28, 5, and 5 this year. Are u gonna tell us he’s a similar level player to 14-15 James Harden because their numbers are close? Just because 2 players have similar basic boxscore stats, that doesn’t mean they’re actually similar level players. Brunson got that money from the Knicks, a known laughingstock organization. Why should anyone be basing smart contract decisions off of what the Knicks are doing? u did not just compare Porter’s stats to Harden’s…c’mon it’s not like Silas had much of a choice to run basic offense, the team was dumb and full of young guys…KPJr struggled just to run the basics what those 2 state isn’t gospel…people talk like KPJr has been Tyrese Haliburton level on the court
How is that an L? He called KPJ a part of their core. Seems like a W ..... Stone says he is part of the core........just like I said. DD
