One of the lighter sides of this is that those of us that were debating the Hardin vs Buzbee matchup will never really know who got the better of who, with all (or almost all) cases settled. We won't know the details of that. I kind of wanted to see these guys go head to head in the courtroom, but I guess that was hoping for too much since WAY too many WAY too rich guys wanted this to be over.
I wouldn't be surprised if Goodell potentially increases the suspension to the entire season and adds a heavy fine due to how Watson structured his contract. They got quite a bit of backlash with the slap on the wrist handed down initially, the NFL appealing and bumping up the suspension and adding a fine would pacify people better than if that was what was handed down from the start. It would be a PR win for the league.
Some experts say that the deadline is on Thursday, so the 3 business days would be tuesday, wednesday and thursday? So we could still hear about it tomorrow.
The lack of a fine, after he earned his whole paycheck last season, and given how Cleveland did his contract, is pretty galling.
I would be content with a year`s suspension, as far as a fine, I can see them levying something but at the end of the day lets say they fine him 1.5 million which is what the owner of the Fins got (for meddling), does it really mean anything if you are guaranteed 230+ million....the only way it "hurts" is if you fine him 10 million which will never happen........so at the end of the day I would take the year and call it good
