I don't think it's debatable poor uneducated whites are disadvantaged in many ways. They're called white trash, trailer trash, hillbillies, rednecks, etc... These terms were mostly created by other whites as a brandish to "respectable folk" not to fall that far. That white anxiety of success or keeping with the Joneses is what caused the overborrowing boom before 08, and will force Americans to spend beyond their means once again in the coming 12 months.

All things being equal, an employer would probably hire a less poor minority or better yet...an illegal for dead-end low-wage blue collar work.

Politicians call them flyover, deplorables, and routinely ignore their problems since they're mostly (and pridefully) dumb and have limited options with their HS diplomas (at best).

Liberals have largely pivoted out of class politics in the last 30 years and shifted more attention to identity politics focused upon positions of power, influence, or authority. I don't see much of that trickling down to poor whites (or blacks/native americans for that matter) since the 08 GFC. Regional Banks lend to poor and needy folk for investment opportunities, yet many wholesale banks were shut down/bought out during that period, and large fish don't care about earning 3-5% plankton moreso than boosting their bottom line (financialization through unregulated securities and derivatives). So those areas become even bigger money pits as productivity declines and liquidity is sucked dry for speculative or higher performing bets.

Cities also return a greater ROI vs Rural areas, so even if the Fed spends more taxpayer money to the countryside/red states on a per capita basis, cities still get richer, produce more results, and have greater positive feedback loops for growth.

What's happening recently in coastal states and cities is that lower class are getting priced out of homes and even rent because of the rotating Everything Bubbles seen recently and have been perpetuated since Greenspan in the 90s. Cost of living is becoming unbearable to lower wage service class like waitresses, deliverymen, and blue collar work.

That convergence where poor are getting pinched at the cities and countryside is where the Liberals have failed while the people who bankroll Con ideology has profited 100x over. So all Cons have to do when they don't govern is stall, advertise "commonsense principles" of austerity and low regulation, and do jack **** in responsible governance while blaming Dems as Typical Failures of Big Government..

When they do come into power, they slash regulation, suck agencies dry with perks like private jets or revamped office headquarters (while slashing payroll for competent bureaucrats) originally designed to protect or uplift the needy or vulnerable, and pass broad tax cuts "for the poor" that is later "paid by the poor and everyone but the rich". Or maybe not at all by claiming "deficits don't matter"?

Either way the poor get stiffed, but I guess preachy Progressives stick at the eye of the poor whites with repeated claims of Societal Privilege. But that Privilege only goes so far and usually within one strata above or below your socio-economic standing.

I can see how it's rightfully a brushoff by Liberals and one deeply lacking in empathy or awareness. Walk it off Poor Whites, the system's in your favor IF ONLY YOU DID SOMETHING...learn coding, run a side gig, or start a podcast you smooth brained inbreds!

Maybe we can all agree that the system is unfair, and a large reason why is because it's also created DIVISIVELY and the only way to get out of it is for the poor to recognize their position is stronger as an entire class. The answer might not be Socialism, but the root causes that lead to Socialist movements can still be true.

As i said the system should be based upon economics not skin color but we need to fix the laws that target skin color first,

sounds like a good idea in theory, but I'm not sure what laws you have in mind "that target skin color" . . . any specific laws in mind?

Sure I get that. In geologic time, it's a blink of the eye. But that standard is stupid. Alito is an old man, 72, but still more than half his life had gone by with abortion as a right. Some benchmark of 'well it's a fraction of the age of the constitution' is capricious and irrelevant. The lives of people is what is relevant when we are thinking about what is the status quo.

Based on his attacks on other posters as "racist" he has no clue what racism is and probably has not actually experienced but yeah you are right, he probably feels like a victim and that minorities and women rising up is threatening to him and feels like reverse racism.

The whole, "they only got where they did because of affirmative action" is one of the most racist attacks I hear.

Exactly. He is trying to look at this as a micro issue vs a macro issue. 9 times out of 10 if you have 3 exact resumes except the names are John, Jamal, and Juan. Knowing nothing else about the candidate except their names, John is getting the first interview. That is privilege. Now John may be a black guy or a nickname for a Middle Eastern dude, but the "white sounding" name gets the advantage.

wow. I’m threatened by minorities rising up???

where the **** do you get that? Try to stick to the topic. That is that the stereotyping of any race is racist. Thats all I said. Stop trying to make me out to be some poor white guy from west virginia. Its comical really how far off the beaten path you will go instead of just engaging in the actual argument. You’re a fool.

and where did I ever bring up affirmative action? Damn you are sloppy

wow. More idiot assumptions. You have zero idea of what you are talking about. How do you know what I am a victim of? How can you possibly be so foolish and arrogant. Don’t make sweeping stereotypical statements about an entire race of people and dont assume you know what someone has been through. I cant believe I have to tell you that. You are a fool.

The Bill Russell I Knew for 60 Years
Since I was 14, Bill Russell showed me how to be a better player--and a better man.

    https://kareem.substack.com/p/the-bill-russell-i-knew-for-60-years

    excerpt:

I always knew I wanted to be active in civil rights, but I didn’t always know how I would do that. I had attended some anti-war and civil rights protests rallies while at UCLA, but I knew that wasn’t enough. In 1967, when I was 20 years old, football legend turned Hollywood actor Jim Brown asked me to join what became known as the Cleveland Summit. We were a group of mostly Black athletes—including Bill Russell, Carl Stokes, Walter Beach, Bobby Mitchell, Sid Williams, Curtis McClinton, Willie Davis, Jim Shorter, and John Wooten—tasked with determining the sincerity of Muhammad Ali’s refusal to be drafted by the U.S. Army based on his religious views as a Muslim. Several of the group were ex-military and did not look sympathetically on Ali’s stance.

Bill was the most famous member of the summit, other than Jim Brown and Ali, but he never tried to leverage that to influence the rest of us. His approach was logical and dispassionate, encouraging us to listen with open minds to what Ali had to say. That reasonable approach proved to be much more effective than trying to sway us. He knew Ali could speak eloquently and passionately for himself, and that if we were open, we would see the truth in what he said. That was a huge lesson in humility and leadership that guided me for many years after.

The Bill Russell of the Cleveland Summit was who I wanted to be when I grew up. In fact, the Bill Russell of the Cleveland Summit made me grow up right then and there. As I had emulated him on the court, I chose to also emulate him off the court. I read interviews with him and I read his 1966 autobiography Go Up for Glory about his experiences growing up in segregated America and the obstacles he faced as a Black man in America, despite his fame and accomplishments. What especially struck home was his refusal to become the stereotypical Angry Black Man that many tried to force him to be. Instead, he chose to focus on finding a path to change and social justice through specific actions and programs.

Years later when some in the press tried to characterize me as the Angry Black Man, I tried to follow Bill’s rational example to remain calm and join the fight by championing specific solutions rather than just rage and shake my fist. Although, sometimes the frustrations call for a good fist-shaking. Then, as Bill taught me, it’s back to doing the hard work that actually brings change.

Because research has proven this time and time again. Also, I have a sister who was named an Eastern European name, which is also a name used by Hispanics, she has experienced this and was told this by recruiters. Is it 100%? Nope, but it is generally the case. This conversation is not about 1 specific person you idiot. This is about society as whole.
