Mina Kimes ought to do a quick google search before she gets on TV and talks about non-violent sexual assault...the arrogance of calling a federal judge that's been doing this for more than 30 years "incoherent."

Non-violent sexual assaults are committed by the manipulation of the victim or the perpetrator's abuse of authority. Not all sexual assault involves the use of force or violence, there are varying degrees. Robinson laid out quite clearly why she thought Watson was guilty of non-violent sexual assault:
    • He abused his authority as a Texans player by contacting the women on Instagram using his verified account to make sure they knew he was a celebrity
    • He preferred to use a towel instead of draping where he could become exposed easily
    • He did not care about the qualifications of the women
    • He asked them to focus on his lower back, abs, glutes, and groin area
    • She did not believe his categorical denial of getting an erection during these massages, and she believes it was "more probable than not" that Watson's penis did come in contact with the masseuse...which is not uncommon. But Watson should've known such contact was unwanted.
    • There is circumstantial evidence to support that the women did not want the contact (e.g. ending the session early, text messages, etc.). Circumstantial evidence also includes Watson's repeated pattern of behavior (small towel, seeking out unqualified masseuses)
Basically, the judge didn't believe him and from his pattern of behavior and the other circumstantial evidence she believed Watson had a pattern of trying to turn these massages into something sexual.

Now as to why only 6 games, she had to look at how similar cases that did involve violence were handled.

    From ESPN

Based on previous cases including domestic violence where only 8 games were applied, Sue Robinson thought it fair to only give Watson 6 games for non-violent sexual assault. The NFL pushing for an indefinite suspension, given its past history of rulings and the failure to give players due notice of the penalty for such behavior would be unfair to Watson.

I don't agree with her decision, but I do respect it. I was hoping Watson would get zero games given how the misconduct of owners has gotten a pass. And if the league finds Watson guilty of violating the conduct policy, why is there no subsequent investigation into the allegation that the Texans enabled him to do so?

Guilty or innocent, hopefully Watson learned his lesson to leave the Instagram masseuses alone.

Who has done worse, Josh Gordon or DeShaun Watson? Kind of serious here.

I get that Gordon has done many things that he should or could be in prison for, but is it worse than what Watson has done?

They both have/had issues but Gordon just hurt himself while Watson objectified and assaulted dozens of women

I really do want to hear why it is the NFL only put the 4 cases (or was it 5 and Robinson chose to throw out the 5th?) I read somewhere they only interviewed 12 of the 24 women, then only presented a small subset of those. Maybe some of those didn't come off well or had little to no evidence? But why only interview half? Maybe some of the women refused to be interviewed? It just seems so odd that they took as long as they did and still seemed to only do it half ass. I'm sure we will never get the full story there, but I am very curious.

Are you really questioning this? It's Watson by a landslide. Gordon doesn't belong in this conversation. Smoking weed is not in the same universe as constant sexual assault on dozens of women.

They picked the most credible of the accusers that had the circumstantial evidence to support their claims. They picked 5 cases and Robinson discarded one for the following reason stated in her decision:

We will never get the full story since most have settled.

Or maybe he learned that bringing his own towel to take the evidence with him was a great move. Predatory planning for his stalking and prey.

It's hard to believe the NFL included a woman as part of their evidence against Watson that they hadn't even interviewed.

Move this Thread. It is no longer relevant to the current state of the Texans.

What Watson does or does not do impacts the Texans draft picks.

The same reason we have a large thread in the GARM about KD demanding a trade out of Brooklyn.

    It's kind of my point.

Then after that, look at the suspensions.

Kind of was meant to be rhetorical.
