Keeping Whitley to this point indicates to me that they still believe in him, or his trade value is non existent.

I'm sad they gave up Valdez but this season was a breakout year right? He wasn't a highly regarded prospect before this season? Last year Bryan De La Cruz broke out and I was sad he was traded for Garcia but De La Cruz hasn't been special. Maybe Valdez won't be anything special as well. Who knows. That's the gamble Click has to make.

I worry about fit and him as a back up. Hopefully it plays out fine, my first thought was he wouldn’t be happy as a back up. I’ll shut up, just worried Dusty bobbles it all up

Valdez's ceiling was a bat first 2b with very limited defensive value.

Abreu is one of half a dozen CF prospects all comparable.

    Great trade

    OFs to Watch
    Alek Thomas
    Cedric Mullins
    Ian Happ
    Bryan Reynolds
    Luis Gonzalez
    Teaoscar Hernandez
    Lourdis Gurriel

    Minor Leaguers
    Heston Kjerstad
    Pete Crow-Armstrong
    Benny Montgomery
    Drew Waters
    Sa Frelick
    Matt Walner
    Joshua Baez
    Alec Burleson
    Jordan Groshans

    Thats just Spit Balling

I think they will move Odorizzi or Urquidy Deals that have me stumped

I haven't heard anything between Teams interested in Urquidy
and we know the Cards are in on Odorizzi

I think they Move Odorizzi just to save some cash and they could net Alec Burleson and another Prospect that would be awesome in the long run

No. They underpaid. Although some think Waldichuk was an elite prospect. I am nowhere near as brushed up on other team’s farms but just by latest prospects rankings the yAnkees got a good deal.

Astros gonna wait for somebody to get desperate for a #3 SP and get a haul for Odo or Urquidy.

Am I the only one weary of paying a steep price for Gregory Soto? He’s having a good year but I’m concerned he could be Abreu 2.0 with the command issues

Cardinals trade for Jose Quintana, per Passan, live on ESPN. They are "not done" according to him, and may still want to add another starter because their rotation has been so decimated.

Not just that but relievers are so volatile. They can come out of nowhere and then fall off a cliff all of a sudden. Happens many, many times.

Click getting a AAA SP from Tampa in the Mancini deal was slick, because it lessens the impact of trading one of Urquidy, Odorizzi, Brown, or Whitley. Obviously we don’t want Murray starting playoff games, but if the Astros need a 7th or 8th SP over the next 2 months he’s a fine option. Hell, Houston could trade all 4 of those guys and Murray, Solomon, Bielak, France, and Endersby would be plenty of depth to make all the spots starts that might come up for short term injuries or inning limits.

agreed, but it helps when you’re left handed and throw 100.

Take solace in the fact that just like the teams who “win” free agency by giving the best player $300M+ really end up losing, the same thing happens to teams who “win” the deadline by trading for a super duper star with multiple years left.
