He is a free agent in 2024 right. Under contract in 2023 for 10 million? https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/houston-astros/trey-mancini-21070/
1 year/$7.75M (2022), plus 2023 mutual option re-signed by Baltimore 4/2/22 (avoided arbitration, $8M-$7.375M) 22:$7.5M, 23:$10M mutual option ($250,000 buyout)
5ERA? I know Chandler posted that but he is a 24 year old prospect still in A ball. I call this a steal.
I have no problem with the trade. We traded Siri and swapped a pitching prospect for another one to get Mancini. Does not prevent us from making more moves...
Need a reliever, preferably lefty, hope Click gets it done. We still can trade from our pitching surplus.
A mutual option means both the team and the player have to pick it up. If Mancini declines it then he's a FA.
We don't need a lefty reliever for Dusty to use poorly We need another really good reliever, regardless of RH/LH
Not a bad trade. Murray/McDermott is a wash. Siri for Mancini is a bad deal in terms of war for war, but not bad in the context of giving up a 4th OF for a proven hitter.
Siri for Mancini is a huge win for the Astros Any metric that says different probably shouldn't be used too much
Interesting buy low situation on Mancini. He has power -- his max exit velocities were among the league leaders from 2017-2021.
SERA?? McDermott strikes out a ton of guys a year after being drafted in A Advanced. If he ever learns to throw strikes, he will be in the majors within a year. Siri, it is unlikely he ever makes consistent contact, but his defense will likely keep him in majors for a while.
