He's not hitting well enough to be a can't trade guy as a 1B or poor fielding OF. His value, hopefully, is that some other team still sees him as a catcher and will give up a guy that plays 1B and hits well for a 1B.
He hasn't been that good this season..... and they got back another reliever with a solid back ground that is struggling this year. They also got pieces that potentially help them going forward.... and Hader will likely make 15-16 million next year in his last arbitration season. I don't think this was a bad deal for Milwaukee at all.
Diaz can just flat out hit.... he has done it every where he has been and has improved his power. I personally hope they hold onto him.
I've read that Valdez tops out at only 108 mph so I'd jump at the opportunity to get something for him.
I'm just saying they always pull something off last minute. Verlander Grienke Those types Mullins seems like that type of player they get last minute
He's hitting about the same as Yuli this year with a sub-0.700 OPS and worse than Chas. He might be a future piece of the puzzle if he can regain last year's form, but he's not exactly a blockbuster move right now.
Mullins is super high risk. I want a risk discount. He's your proverbial High end prospect DISAPPOINTMENT. He is living off his prospect rating. But 3+ years of control makes him a candidate for Urquidy/Garcia. Perhaps he would benefit from a change of scenery. Very McCormick like numbers this year. Maybe try to get Akin as lefty relief for a high risk prospect like Whitley.
Better arm. Better glove. Better speed on the basepath. But I agree on the bat. His 2021 stats look like an aberration.
Mullins is still hitting RHP pitching pretty well, so we could just platoon him with Chaz and get pretty good production if needed. If you acquire him you obviously hope he can come closer to his full time results from last season, but there is still a lot of value even if he doesn't. That's of course assuming Dusty has enough common sense to utilize platoons.
not sure he’s faster than Chas or a markedly better defender. Chas is a top notch athlete who has performed very well in CF. He does strike out too much though, I will concede that.
I don't think so. If the Astros don't buy out the option and he doesn't exercise it, the Astros owe him NOTHING. It's a 3.5M decision for the Astros and a $6.5M decision for Odorizzi. I would not buy out the option and the incentives are unlikely to be met because of time on the IL. I'd have no problem with another year of Odorizzi at $6.5M.
Maybe he just hates New York. His performance just fell off a cliff as soon as he stepped off the plane up there. Gallo's not coming here but would be hilarious and not all that unlikely for Gallo to outperform Beni the rest of the season wherever he ends up.
Mullins prospect rating suggested he would be worth 6 WAR or less for his club controlled years. He's already been worth about 8 WAR. Mullins is the guy that is more 2nd division starter, but has a lot of value because the team has him under club control for a few more years. I think Chas is a really good comp in how they get value with the notable exceptions that Mullins had a great year hitting and has more of an MLB track record. I'd guess Mullins will be better because of longer track record, but it would not surprise me if they had similar careers going forward.
