Can only risk manage so much. Couldn't predict that the batting champ would decline this sharply or that Brantley was going to miss half of the season. Add 2021 Gurriel and Brantley and this team is a monster.
# of hits is a pretty meaningless stat. He's that high because he's had a ton of at-bats. He's a 0.250 hitter this season. He has 8 more hits than Yordan in ... 94 more at-bats. All it tells us about Mullins is that he's stayed healthy and keeps hitting leadoff.
Players I really hope do not get traded: Pedro Leon Cristian Javier Colin Barber Yainer Diaz Korey Lee Bryan Abreu
Yainer DIaz and Enmanuel Valdez along with Odorizzi are my hope they get traded list. Doubtful Valdez is better than Altuve and Bregman. Diaz doesn't scream Astros catcher. Odorizzi...there are just too many better pitchers in organization than him.
1. The Astros Organization certainly knows what is going on. You and I not knowing is meaningless. 2. We have league average/replacement level Center Fielder()... just like almost every other playoff team. 3. 2022 Yuli isn't 2019 or 2021 Yuli, but he's still capable of moving runners and scoring runs. Also, all of this knee jerk stuff is silly. The Astros have the 3rd best record in all of baseball. They lost 9 games in July: Royals 7/6 - (Javier gave up 5 ER, Neris 2 ER, no Altuve and no Yuli) A's 7/9 - (lost 3-2) Angels 7/13 - (Javier gave up 3 ER, Abreu 4 ER, no Yordan) A's 7/15 - (Urquidy gave up 3 ER, Martinez 2 ER, no Altuve, no Yordan, no Yuli, no Maldonado) A's 7/17 - (Odorizzi gave up 3 ER, Montero 1 ER, no Yordan) A's 7/25 - (Odorizzi gave up 6 ER, Stanek 1 ER, no Tucker) A's 7/26 - (Garcia gave up 4 ER, Neris 1 ER, no Altuve, no Yuli until they both pinch hit at the end of the game) A's 7/27 - (Javier gave up 3 ER, Martinez 1 ER, no Bregman, no Pena) Mariners 7/30 - (Valdez gave up 3 ER and Pressly 2 ER in the top of the 9th) The offense scored 139 runs over 28 games in the month of July (5 runs per game). Pitchers gave up 97 runs 3.5 runs per game). Our pitchers gave up 5 or more runs in 6 of our 9 losses (3 of those being 7 runs allowed). We still managed to win almost 2/3 of our games in that span... which is an elite level win percentage.
Diaz has also played 20+ games at 1B and has seen some time in the OF as well. Kid has been a hitting machine and you're "hoping" he gets traded???
