I wanted Montas instead of Castillo just so the Yanks couldn't have him. He's good when healthy too but I don't see him better than what a 28 year old Luis Garcia will look like in 3 seasons. In other words Luis is betta

They know that even if they did make the playoffs it be pointless against The Astros... Better to rebuild while Altuve and Yordan retire....

I'm perplexed even with the prospects so they're getting are not that tremendous.

The #28 prospect might as well just be anybody. The #7 prospect you're hoping pans out.

I think the key in this deal is the left-handed pitcher who has the potential to be a really good closer and has had success at the major league level for a while now. If he can take that next step and be more consistent, then they made out ok in this deal.

    I saw the opposite.
-- Rogers has been just ok this year (good FIP, bad ERA, negative WAR), and is a free agent at year end anywhow.
-- Lamet has been terrible since an incredible 2020. He probably wouldn't make a playoff roster and is likely a non-tender candidate for the year (and hits free agency in 18 months anyway).
    -- Gasser was their 2021 2nd rounder. He's been ok in A+
-- Ruiz seems to be a decent-ish prospect but is towards the bottom of their top 30.

I look at Hader as a clear upgrade to Rogers with an extra year of control. Lamet is basically a reclamation flier at this point.

Gasser is a fine asset, but Padres would be lined up to get a comp pick of roughly equal value if they lose Hader after '23. Ruiz is pretty marginal cost for an upgrade from Rogers to Hader.

Err... Who says they are not worried about that? Looks pretty d*** solid to me.

Williams was not traded to Milwaukee from San Diego. He was already their set up man.

Omar Narvaez is also allegedly available. I’ve long thought he’d be a good target for Houston.

For Hader, we could've said Garcia was a closer and traded him along with McCormick for and a low minor leaguer for Hader and it would've been a better deal

Yes misread that. Kid has been pretty impressive the last couple of months. Stepping into a closers role is a whole different thing.

Odorizzi is going to opt out after this season because he's pitching well because he will get more on the market. If he opts out he get's his 3.5 + incentives buyout and get a new contract.

Everybody relax. Houston might not make any blockbusters but I guarantee Click has at least 2 deals in his pocket that he knows he can complete if nothing else materializes.

I’m honestly fine with just adding Choi and Lowe. Getting a veteran backup C makes sense as we’ve all discussed. Trades just starting to go down. Team will upgrade the roster, so yeah, don’t panic people.

Worst case scenario...Astros don't trade for anyone, but still have maybe the best team in baseball.

I bet Odorizzi will be the only trade Click makes. Hopefully it's for a prospect that can be put in CF and this guy lights it up.

i wish we had addressed the need of an extra bat during the off season instead of waiting til the trade deadline with a depleted farm.

    Kinda hard to “relax” when:

    1. Brantley is still out and nobody has any clue what’s going on. Hell he might not even be back.

    2. We have a glaring hole at CF.

    3. Yuli is a shell of his former self.

    4. McCullers hasn’t pitched a single inning this season.

So I think it’s fair to be a little on edge especially when most contenders are getting better.
