Murphy I like a lot... I'm not as high on Laureano. After bursting on the scene, he's been a very average bat for 3 years now and that's coincided with getting busted for PEDs. Murphy has fallen off too, but it's far less likely Korey Lee can produce what he does than one of the half dozen outfield prospects matching Laureano.
Has Mullins been injured? How do you go from 30 bombs to 8 at age 26/27. Just a weird regression. His EV hasn't really changed from his career. Agreed. I am sure there would be some deep dive there to see what is really going on. Altuve Bregman Yordan Martinez Tucker Pena Brantley Gurriel Maldy I mean that is nasty. Bell mentioned open to signing a shorter term deal to be on a winner. That is exactly what the Astros have done with Yuli his whole career. Enter Josh Bell.
He's moving that way anyway. He will get more time off and occasionally DH. CF, LF and 1B will all be flexible and we will substitute everywhere. Using DH as a flex position with Yordan in LF more often allows more bats, even while resting.
I remember that as well. Lockeroom energy matters. Yea they are professionals out to do a job. But emotion comes in to play.
At this point, Siri is like Jake Marisnick and gives you late game defense and a weak bat. He's not as utilitarian as Diaz and Dubon. dWAR of 1.1 in 48 games if this helps. I'm sure it's mostly CF. 41 games at CF.
If that’s the case than someone like Urquidy should be worth a lot more than Choi. Young, proven, cheap controllable pitching is worth a helluva lot.
Just turned 27, Controlled through 2025. Career 3.66 era pitcher with upside. Would need to be a solid return to let him go.
no, I am with you on that. The reason I want to see his defensive metrics is because I am trying to explain to my Baltimore Orioles buddy that, if we traded siri to them, he would be getting a great defensive CF. I saw a post on here that showed he was the league leader in fielding range or something like that.
I did. Bell will not be offered an extension by the Nats and then traded to the Astros. The Astros could approach Bell after the trade and talk extension, but this is likely done after the season is over.
Hopefully the pitching staff performs much better than they did last yr in the WS regardless of who's catching.
It’s really affected Mancini. But Mullins? Left handed pull hitter, all the advanced stats show it’s been a non-factor for him.
While I agree, that's more player for player. If the Astros were willing to trade Urquidy for prospects, they would likely get a haul though Mariners likely gave up a little extra premium because Castillo is a ToR pitcher.
Regarding Mullins: So there are definitely questions about Mullins' power 2022 vs 2021. But don't miss that he has 101 hits on the year which currently ranks 27th in MLB. 101 hits would LEAD the Astros (Yordan #2 at 93 hits, Altuve #3 at 89). Would definitely immediately fill the current void in that role that Brantley's absence has accentuated and the guy most definitely can field. And in case anyone is wondering, Brantley had 70 hits when he left the lineup when it went on the IL June 28th more than a month ago
