Were any of these guys so dominant in their sport that they are still considered the best by far at what they did, ever?

Has to be Wilt. They changed rules of the game because of Wilt.

He wouldn’t be as dominant today. But, he would still be amazing. I saw him play against the Rockets back in like ‘72. I think he was more talented than people give him credit for. He was more than just a really tall guy.

I dont think Mayweather belongs in the discussion.
His handlers put too much emphasis on maintaining that 0 loss record instead of fighting better opponents.

I would have to agree with this or ... Helen Wills Moody in tennis. Her streak was ridiculous. I think she won something like almost 200 straight matches without losing a set.

If you include horses... then maybe Man O' War. lol.

Wilt was so overpoweringly dominant in the NBA that he would be the number one pick out of every player who ever played AND people would say he was more dominant in his sport than Babe was in Baseball or Gretzky in Hockey?

In my lifetime no one was more dominate then Tyson.............there were periods of time that NO one was going to beat Tyson, it was simply a matter of how long the fight would be, 30 seconds, 1 round...........you did not want to be late for his fights or you may miss it!!

the only professional players who does not have enough fingers to wear all championship rings that he has won ,
and that's not even counting 2 high school state championship in uber competitive Calif, 2 NCAA rings and an Olympic gold medal.

    RIP

before Russell, the Celtics had never won a ring.
Then Russell joined the team, which led to 11 championship rings in 14 seasons.
    that's dominating
