don’t we have to assume he is out for the year? I thought I remember him being injury prone with the Indians. We got a few years out of him relatively unscathed. That time might be up. If that is the case I don’t think we have enough offense.

for the pen. I view Pressley as a Will Harris de-ha-vu. Decent enough but if scene enough in a 7 game series he will blow a save or hold or whatever he is in for like Harris did in 2019. Yes I know Rendon hit a good pitch. But Harris still gave it up.

So no moves at the deadline would be a bit of a dissapointment as I feel the offense is not as good as previous WS teams (exclude 2005) and would love a lock down pre Pujols Lidge ( if such an animal exists )

Athletic: The Astros, seeking a catcher, are among several clubs reporting a high price on Contreras. According to one source, they are focusing more on Vázquez.

The Astros, according to sources, are showing interest in Choi as a possible alternative to their apparent No. 1 choice at first, the Nationals’ Josh Bell. The Rays currently are playing short-handed with shortstop Wander Franco, and outfielders Manual Margot and Harold Ramirez on the injured list. But if they traded Choi, they would make other moves to recoup the offense they lost, trying to create the best possible13-man position-player group.

    Around the horn
    • Bell, a native of Irving, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, told me over the weekend that he wouldn’t mind a trade to Houston. Bell and his wife, Lia, welcomed their first child, a daughter named Noa, in December. Houston is about a 3 1/2-hour drive from Dallas, and Bell’s parents would be in better position to help with the baby if he spent the final few months of the season with the Astros. He is a potential free agent.

Oh yea. I remember Kid Keuchal after 7/31 in 2017 when I think all we did was Liriano. That August the team was flat. Then Lunhow cr****ed us a JV at the 11th our of the waiver trade deadline and….well… that works out.

Would be interesting to see if Bell's power input increases at Minute Maid, after playing at Pirate's and National's stadiums.

I see a lot of mentions on Yordan in left. Man I just want him in bubble rap. Get him to the plate and pack him back up for the next at bat. I don’t want to expose him to any more possible injury scenarios

Jeff Passan is a weirdly constructed, overly dramatic guy.

I understand... Odorizzi isn't less than 3 years in the league primarily only knowing one catcher.

My concern is Garcia, Urquidy, Javier, and Valdez. We've seen them struggle at times in the playoffs and a different catcher may be worse at handling them from an experience standpoint.

As fans we can assume he is or isn’t

Luckily, Click has info we don’t and can factor that into any offers

Depends on the bullets being used... if it's Barber and Mcdermott then maybe they are fine with it.

It's baseball... the dh is the devil...

These are athletes... make them go be athletes.

He's improved dramatically since he got his new wheels and for some reason he hits better when playing the field...

I hope the price is reasonable for Bell. I worry that we might not get much if any benefit at all since over such a small sample of games like the post-season randomness tends to predominate. A bad hitter can easily out perform a better hitter across <50 PA. Acquiring Bell and no other bats would feel like a move to just make a move.

Wow, I just heard a awesome rumor.

    Bell to Astros
    Vazquez to Astros
    With super utility rotations
There is a possibility Urquidy for Bell.

But the back up for Bell is Choi and Lowe from the Rays.

They want a Pitcher as well but Bullpen guy.

I wonder if the Braves think that about Acuna, the Nats about Soto, the Padres about Tatis, the White Sox about Robert, etc.

If Yordan deserves to be in their class he can go shag some fly outs and throw it in. He doesn't need to be gold glove out there... MMP is also an easy leftfield in terms of range. Playing it off a wall is a different matter...

There is no way I would trade Urquidy for 3 months of Bell.

This. I love Yuli, but his bat speed is gone. He is purely a slap oppo singles hitter. Very little gap power left, never mind home runs. He can be a late inning defensive replacement, get the occasional start, be a professional PH. This just isn’t his year.

Our SP strength is primed for a post season run.

Our lineup lacks depth and we don’t have Correa’s post season experience. We also lack power. Peña has been phenomenal, but facing elite pitching and nasty sliders all day long is a different ballgame. Short of an insane overpay, I’d really like Click to pull the trigger on Bell.

I’d also like one more high leverage arm. Don’t care if lefty or righty. Another high leverage arm to get people out, Chafin. Givens. You name it. I want our SP to hand off to an unholy chain of leverage arms, like TB has always done.

How is Urquidy for bell an awesome rumor? It’s an absurd overpay.

Brown is coming up I’d bet after the deadline with LMJ and he will be that arm (along with Javier) in the bullpen, imo.
