I'm not sure about that, especially after the coup. The GOP has done a lot of military bashing and voting no to benefits meant to assist them. I'm sure there's a percentage who are pretty right wing gun lovers in there, but there's also a big percentage who aren't just soldiers out on the battlefield. Many have more white collar jobs requiring high levels of intelligence.

Also, I'm sure there are plenty who don't want a leader who can't be trusted to lead. The majority of the GOP lied about the insurrection or cowered to speak the truth. Hitler and Putin lied to their troops, and filled their heads with propaganda about what they were really fighting for. You don't want a leader who can't be trusted about who the enemy is. I also doubt a lot of them like the GOP's obsession with coddling Dictator/Fascist types. I'm sure plenty believe in serving their country honorably, and not spitting on Democracy get power like the GOP and Trump did.

Communists have slaughtered tens of millions in through purges and dogmatic incompetence. They also have a habit of springing Cults of Personality which serves as a proxy for religion.

We're innately wired for that kind of worship and tribalism. Pretending we're not leads to disasters unlike Mao or Stalin.

We should slash VA finding and give each vet 0.0001 Bitcoin.

Thank you for serving. Have fun staying RICH.

NPR compiled a list of individuals facing federal or District of Columbia charges in connection with the events of Jan. 6. Of more than 140 charged so far, a review of military records, social media accounts, court documents and news reports indicate at least 27 of those charged, or nearly 20%, have served or are currently serving in the U.S. military. To put that number in perspective, only about 7% of all American adults are military veterans, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Several veterans are charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. One of them is Larry Rendall Brock Jr. The Air Force veteran was photographed in a military-style helmet and tactical vest carrying flex cuffs inside the Capitol. He posted on Facebook that he was preparing for a "Second Civil War," according to documents filed in federal court. In the weeks after Biden's victory, Brock posted that "we are now under occupation by a hostile governing force."

    and then later

Of the more than 700 people charged by the Department of Justice for their role in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, approximately one out of every five of them was a U.S. veteran.

And at least five were currently serving in the military when they partook in the storming of the U.S. Capitol by pro-Trump forces. Here is a rundown of where many of them stand as of now, one year down the road.

so not sure how much of a dent the coup or coddling to Putin and dictators really has

the majority will still vote Republican

Most of those were prior military. Probably a bad bunch of far right radicals who weren't too bright and fell for Trump's BS. I would hope a majority serving now believe in serving their country honorably. There is nothing honorable about Trump, or the majority of that party who defend trying to steal an election. I also believe a lot of Veterans ate sick of being spit on by that party calling themselves Patriots. A lot of Vets are seeing that they don't give a damn if they need help for war induced trauma or illness

we’ll see how sick vets really are when it comes time to vote…I’m not holding my breath tho

Maybe the younger military personnel have more sense and can see through all the Republican BS, but Idk what percentage of them actually vote.

    This gives me hope...

Military bases swung hard away from Republicans in 2020

By our calculations they moved towards Democrats by eight points, compared with a nationwide swing of just two.

it definitely wasn’t as high as it was back in 2016, but Trump still won the vets vote by 10 points this past election

maybe people are waking up, but I still expect the majority of them to vote Republican

What's considered "human dignity" is dependent on which religion you belong to, in my opinion. Painting with a broad brush when the subject is religion results in a very poor painting.

Ted Cruz is full of it. We’ve known this for a long time. His “rah rah fight” speech just before Jan 6th contributed to the insurrection. He fled Texas during the big freeze and got caught. He’s nothing more than a Trump ***** where Trump insulted him and his wife way back when and Cruz then kissed Trump’s feet. He’s spineless.

kids will be issued a bullet proof vest and personal handgun as part of their school supplies if Republicans had their way…along with designing each school like a prison with barbed wire fencing and concrete walls
