The teams that find the Kevin Porter Jr., not the ones that pay them, are the ones that succeed long term.

The statement is true, if not entirely contextually accurate. It’s really talking about free agents. A team-friendly extension would be great, but if you are talking about paying some perceived “market value”, you might as well wait to see what the market is.

Rockets want to run a System not Iso Ball.

The Rockets have so many Future Picks, Rockets already thinking about a Starting Point Guard that can fit next to Jalen Green and can make Point Guard Passes to Jalen in the Fast Break or Half Court plays, Tyty definitely can can play next to Jalen.

Porter is a 6th man type of talent that should be a Shooting Guard.

These Next Few Drafts I think there will be a Great Point Guard that the Rockets will Draft and can make Jalen Green get easier shots.

Porter has all star written all over his game if he can just keep his head on straight.

I think, that the team will offer him a lowball contract - in the 12m range for say 3 years with the 3rd as a team option.

Or, they will let the market set the price.

If Porter continues how he ended and does like 20-8, he is going to be in the "Overpay him to get him to leave category"......

There is risk and reward on both sides......let's see how it plays out.

I actually think Porter will bet on himself - and the team will let him play this year and take that risk.

My issue with Kevin Porter jr is just dribbling too much.

I believe the Rockets will emphasize 3 to 6 dribbles in the
half court set. Pass the ball and share the wealth slogan.

As the Rockets bring in more scoring threats.....the assists will
    come as well.

    Porter says Houston saved him.
    Porter loves Houston.
Porter wants to stay in Houston.
He and Jalen worked good together in the final 20 games.
    Has size
    Can shoot the 3.
Not a quick burst first step but utilizes hesitation dribble at expert level.
Defense I criticized him for in year one with us vastly improved.

Has only played PG in the NBA for about 87 games....already better than most
who have been going to basketball clinics for PG's all their lives.

I'm for paying him $18M with first year receiving $15M. His ceiling
is greater than Tyus Jones and Brunson if he continues on his
    current trajectory.

Edited: oh and FT's need to improve. Can't leave so many points on the table.

Brunson now getting paid around $28M while posting in 21/22 reg:
    16.3 pts...4.8 Ast...3.9 rebs...37% (3P%)
    Porter posted (21/22):
    15.6 pts...6.2 Ast...4.4 rebs....38% (3P%)

There's no better position for KPJ to take catch and shoot 3s than by being...the ball dominant PG that never receives passes.

I fixed it for you. Let's not forget the organization wants the coach and players to tank. Too many people blaming Silas and players for what they're being told to do - lose games.

In response to op's question, KPJ is the youngest player in NBA history to record 50 points and 10 assists in one game and was traded to a rebuilding team. That's why there's mutual interest for him to be extended. I'd love to see how good KPJ and Green are together when the team is no longer tanking for high draft picks. I don't think he'll get anywhere near the max though.

nope. nothing about him says he's some max talent or all star. the mental hoops is ridiculous for such a mediocre player. your desperation shows clearly through this delusional lens

I might be able to somewhat learn to live with his boneheaded attitude off the court.

I'll never learn to live with him flat out giving up on plays multiple times per game because he felt a perceived slight.

I'll never learn to live with him dribbling inside the perimeter, picking up his dribble, turning around 360 trying to find someone to pass to at every degree of his turn, because no one is in position to receive a pass because they have no idea what he is doing or why he abruptly stopped.

If he can cut those things out, maybe not this year but at least drastically reduce their frequency each game, I might dislike him a lot less.

Youre right. We let them walk and then we hamstring ourselves signing players like Ryan Anderson on big contracts

"Should we sign our best players or let them walk and commit to more years of being terrible?"

Is this Rockets fans or the Sacramento Kings?

    Impossible to tell

If he would take a 2 year deal at 12 million per and agree to be a 6th man I'd happily put up with him and take the risk. We all know that isn't happening though

Lol what would KPJ have to do this season for you to think “man, he’s looking good at point” by the end of it?

Be an actual good pg. He's Jamal Crawford which is fine if he's your 6th man
