3 full seasons, 57-18, 2.30 era, 0.84 WHIP That's essentially the elite era of Pedro Martinez (59-19, 2.29 era, 0.98 WHIP) at 27 years of age. JV is 39.
Or maybe 6-1? Didn't Maldy get the 3rd out catching Julio stealing in the 1st? If he gets to 2nd and Suarez gets to hit maybe this is a completely different game.
JV gonna give the bullpen a rest tonight, which is exactly what we needed. The ultimate and consummate professional, always doing what is needed for the TEAM.
Pedro is one of the greatest pitchers and has argument for greatest ever.... especially when "pound for pound" is considered 5'11'' 170 lbs Sports (like many situations), size matters His measurements are SLIGHTLY above average compared to the general population, but his results are Top 0.000001%
We seem really comfortable playing at home this season...moreso than seasons' past. Maybe it's just my imagination? It also seems like Yuli is starting to come around a bit. Maybe Dusty deserves some credit for moving him to the two hole?
Maldonado is hitting .170 for the season, which is not as horrible as Castro's .115, but imagine a catcher hitting .263 like Realmuto of the Phils. Or Posey for the Giants who hit .309 for his career. Tell me that wouldn't make a huge difference.
Or you can say that the conclusion of the 9th batter completes the circle, just like the end of the 11 clock hour completes the 12 hour clock circle. Don't have to complete an hour after midnight to move the clock "around" because now you have a full circle plus 1 more hour. If the 9th batter doesn't complete the at bat because someone is thrown out on the bases then they didn't bat around.
I'll just say I think if Castro were an everyday catcher...he would be hitting for a decent average with decent power. It must be really hard to play so sporadically and develop any kind of rhythm at the plate. So, I don't really blame him for not being productive.
