They are talking to Oakland about a catcher.

It depends on who they get.

If they have more movement on Murphy, then it is likely worth getting it done now. While his bat hasn’t quite been as good as I expected, he is smart and a hard worker and an above average bat for multiple years. They have discussed guys in the minors and Garcia.

I suspect Diaz will be the Astros starting 1st baseman next year. He really doesn’t like to catch.

    Murphy/Langeliers/Vougt?

I'm also hoping they can add A.J. Puk.

    Astros get:
    C Sean Murphy
    LHP Sam Moll

    Athletics get:
    RHP Luis Garcia
    RHP Bryan Abreu
    RHP Forrest Whitley
    OF Colin Barber

We get a controllable catcher with a good bat and glove, along with a lefty reliever. Moll has a lot of team control, but as a 30-year old breakout player I imagine his value is less than it would be if he were 23. Good K rates, and high spin guy. Lefty Maton.

    Astros get:
    1B Garrett Cooper

    Marlins get:
CF Jose Siri (and a PTBNL if needed)

Cooper (I hope the wrist heals) has grown on me, he has similar peripherals to Tucker except a lower launch angle. Unlike Bell and Mancini, Cooper has an extra year of control, so we get him another year to buy us more time to sort out 1B. And unlike Bell, (but like Mancini), Cooper can also play LF. Marlins said to be in on Siri so this could make sense.

    Astros get:
    IF/OF Brendan Donovan

    Cardinals get:
RHP Jake Odorizzi (and a PTBNL if needed)

Cards could use another starter, and they are said to be shopping one of their young infielders. Donovan may not project to be an everyday bat, but he can replace Diaz next year and gives us a lefty off the bench. Can play all 7 non-battery positions. Getting a guy like Burleson from the Cards is a pipe dream, but this is a more realistic trade.

Hopefully they can keep Bell if they trade him.

Honestly, I'd rather have Garcia than Murphy straight up.

I can live with Maldonado if he's the only hole in the lineup. He's so good with the pitchers you have to worry about their success if he's not the primary guy...

Luis García alone is a pretty big overpay for those two guys.

I think we're all missing an important factor at going all in at the deadline for Bell, Castillo, and Reynolds...

If Soto isn't going to the Yankees it would break their will...

Honestly if Hassell, Abrams, Gore, and others are on the table i think Soto more likely in SD or LAD regardless if Volpe is on the table..

Honestly it works in our favor.. with the bad rankings. When you have the group you listed above as well as Tucker, bregs, McCullers, altuve.. it just makes it look like we are elite at developing subpar talent into all stars. So if you’re a young draft pick you’re ecstatic if you think you’re better than sub par cuz you’ll be an all star at minimum. Haha

I like Sean Murphy and 3 years of ARB is highly attractive to Astros. I wonder what we give up.

I’m pretty sure if the left wasn’t shoving a vaccine down everyone’s throats and the right wasn’t keyboard doctoring their way into fighting the left.. and someone just calmly said “this medicine helps” we’d all be fine… I have zero idea if the vaccine is good or bad. But everyone fighting about it doesn’t know either, it’s strictly political. And to say otherwise is just pretending you’re smarter than you are.

keep clicking boxes based on your party, and move along I guess. No one is changing any minds because it isn’t about right and wrong… it’s about right and left.

If last year has shown us anything; Click isn't afraid to trade within the division, but at what cost?

Taken a step further: If last year (or any year) has shown us anything, no one has any idea what the Astros will do until it actually happens. Very tight lipped org

No matter who we get, I feel Pedro Leon is part of that package.

And no way I want Sean Murphy for anything substantial. Rather keep the Cs we have and hope Korey Lee develops then to overpay for that guy.

F.Garcia and Leon could net a good trade so would be interesting to see how it plays out. Maybe finally give up on Whitley as a throw in

I would be so happy if Click just traded about 150mil or so to Kyle Tucker in return for several more years of him in an Astros uni.
