And got the City their 1st championship ever, plus set the team up to be a contender for the next 5-10 years. I'll take that trade off for a bad trade. All of the Altuve Hof stuff doesn't matter to me at all.
https://nypost.com/2022/07/28/four-teams-ahead-in-juan-soto-trade-sweepstakes-before-deadline/ With four days to go, the Cardinals, Padres, Dodgers and Rangers, among others, appear at the forefront of trade talks for superstar Juan Soto, and someone connected to the talks said he “absolutely” believes Soto will be dealt by Tuesday’s trade deadline. High-ceiling youngsters such as Nolan Gorman and Jordan Walker (Cardinals), Robert Hassell III and C.J. Abrams (Padres), Josh Jung and Jack Leiter (Rangers), and Bobby Miller and Michael Busch (Dodgers), and many others of that stature could be in play for the 23-year-old wunderkind, likely in packages of four or more. [Lists 1. Padres 2. Cardinals 3. Dodgers 4. Rangers 5. Mariners 6. Yankees 7. Giants 8. Rays 9. Mets]
I would love to see the Rangers deal Jung and Leiter in a package for Soto That’s basically the Angels plan What could possibly go wrong
All I want is Soto not going to the Dodgers or Yankees. Soto to the Padres would be good since they're in the NL and the same division as the Dodgers. But let's not forget about Scherzer to the Padres..
It's only done damage if you care what others think. I really don't care what others think. Of course losing the best GM in MLB certainly hurt the org.
Diaz has a strong arm - that’s it. He may look like a catcher but his skills are not up to par. That doesn’t even take into consideration that he doesn’t really like putting in the effort needed to handle a pitching staff. He is a hitter at this point. A very talented natural hitter with emerging power, but he isn’t a two way player.
He isn’t an imbecile, he is very bright. In fact he was offered the job of farm director of the Astros by Luhnow before Goldstein got the job. The problem with Law is that he doesn’t easily change his mind and he doesn’t take into consideration that some teams can develop players better than others. Law also doesn’t consider the type of person an individual player is. Alvarez is a perfect example, he works very hard and has a lot of pride and very bright. Law didn’t care and told me Alvarez would be obese and couldn’t play the field and his bat was slow. Well his bat WAS slow but he was a refugee out of shape.
If the Astros are going to burn a team controlled pitcher for a catcher with multiple years of control it makes you think they aren't very high on Lee.
Nothing quite sours a long-term outlook like hitting .220 in AAA at age 23. That and having him paired with a 36 year old catcher who's already one of the lightest hitting position players in baseball is a recipe for disaster in the postseason*. *Unless you're the 2018 Red Sox where even opposing home runs go for outs.
I wonder if we can come full circle to what some were saying early on and go after Varsho in Arizona and get s center fielder and catcher.
He doesn’t really fit the timeline tbh. What Maldy brings is priceless but they need to give him more time off in the second half. Makes sense why they are looking for a veteran catcher who’s controllable. Korey Lee isn’t ready for what the Astros want from him.
Poor Jake Meyers. Obviously a better player than he has shown so far in 2022. Clearly, the injury sapped his edge for now. A lot of people on here were expecting him to save us in CF. I tried to warn those folks and now here we are. It’s like May 1st for Meyers though.
I agree. I would prefer to not burn a starter like Urquidy to fill that role. I'd rather get a rental to finish the season, and sign someone in the offseason like Vazquez or Narvaez.
