He and Merrifield both said that their status could change if they were traded

Ehh no I wouldn’t say low cost. They gave up a former first rounder, and former fourth rounder and a flyer third player.
The trade isn’t going to do too much damage to the Yankees but they got a rental that has almost no extra base power.

Yeah. So much for the vaccine being poison. It just makes him look like an irresponsible idiot… but we move on.

He makes sense as a free agent if Maldonado goes to the bench and the Astros conclude Lee isn’t the answer.

The only way he makes sense now is if he is cheap enough to replace Castro.

I am very skeptical of the Astros moving on from Maldonado as their starter in August when the team has had so much success with their pitchers.

Right, you're not replacing Maldy, you're replacing Castro/Lee

While I won’t miss Maldonado striking out, I will miss hearing the stories about him telling Strom that Martes is “too ******* stupid to teach” and pulling Garcia aside after a homer and telling him “You throw that **** again and you will have to learn to play the field and hit better.”

Every other word out of his mouth is a cuss word, usually half in English and half in Spanish. He understands advanced math and statistics though.

Why do people not get vaccinated?

Look up anti vaxx propaganda. They claim it is poison.

If he doesn’t believe it is poison and didn’t get vaccinated, then he is a selfish POS.

Neither one is a good look.

Just one of several many reasons I love Maldy.

I hope he stays with the org in some future coaching capacity

I wouldnt move away from maldy he would just be the main catcher a couple pitchers Velasquez would be foe the others and he can play 1B and DH if need be. Velasquez is also a def wiz and good with Pitchers in general. But his bat is so much better its crazy.

I like the rumor I heard about Gabriel Marino being available for a SP. Thats makes me wonder about Urquidy or a Hunter Brown swap

For future reference: Vazquez and Pressly are the names you're shooting for.

Well, Andrew Benintendi is now a Yankee... Astros better figure out a trade or two for some offense.

Don't think Benintendi moves the needle in a meaningful way for the Yankees. Helps a little sure, but not a big deal. Dude is a glorified singles hitter this year.

Them getting Castillo is my bigger concern, their starting pitching after Cole looks pretty meh to me right now.

Last year, after blowing the lead to Seattle with the grand slam to Dylan Moore, we traded for the winning pitcher of that game.
    This year......

They believe that vaccines mess with your RNA. BTW, I'm vaxed because of work purposes, but I'm starting to question the need for second, third, fourth boosters.

I dunno. Sure is nice to have hitters get on base.
