He didn't play between the 8th and 22nd and was pulled from that game for a PH despite only being a dh. And now hasn't played the 2 games since. So something is up.

With all the draft signings official, I would imagine we will see a dozen or more current prospects released in the next few days. And hopefully we will see Melton and Gilbert (along with several of the other draftees) assigned to Fayetteville so they can get in a few weeks of A ball play. Quincy Hamilton got 160 pa in Fayetteville after being drafted last season and that would be a big enough sample to change expectations for Gilbert and Melton.

Justin Dirden is 2-2 with a couple of doubles so far for Corpus.

Any word on when (if?) Whitley is set to go back out there?

Yanier Diaz is getting hot, could he see a post trade deadline call up like Meyers last year?

Unlikely. But I would be very interested in hearing McCullers’ feedback on his defense and game calling from tonight. I don’t think we will see Diaz this season but he is putting himself in position to be considered a very valuable prospect and a long term piece for Houston, even if he ends up only being a backup catcher who gets into the lineup every day backing up 1B and DH.

He's done most of his AAA damage at Abq.

Well isn’t that a kick in the balls.

At a quick glance, he's 13-39 with 8 xbh at Abq and 11-51 with 3 everywhere else.

You reeeeaaaaly have to look into PCL stats, for everybody.

Three games with Asheville, three homers for Miguel Palma. He has 9 on the year and four of them have come in his last five games.

Only 1 k in 13 ab so far in High A. I wonder what’s wrong with Nerio.

If they keep his current schedule, his next rehab start would be 8/1 or 8/2. I would expect him to go 4 (or maybe 5) innings, with a pitch count of 65 or so. After, perhaps he returns to the MLB club around the 7th or 8th?
EDIT: I will also add, his third rehab start would coincide with the Trade Deadline, or the day before. If they feel only 3 rehab starts were necessary, that would perfectly time a trade to clear room for him on the roster. Just worth mentioning.

Amazing for him, given that his promotion was for need and not for performance.

They have been EXTREMELY careful and extra slow with Lance every step.
.no way he gets back to Houston before his 30 days are over

    8/21 in Atlanta

It's been a bit since I've seen him (out of sight/mind kind of thing), but his arm angle looks different, lower.

Lower than before Tommy John, definitely. Hard to judge with camera angle, but still looks even lower.

I think 6 man rotation is going to be the new norm.

Every 30 years or so starting rotations evolve adding another member.

This is good for talented but fragile starters like Lance and old stars trying to extend career like JV.

Could be a good thing given LMJ's pitch mix if he can lower his slot and still maintain the same velo/command. Make his pitches even more extreme.

It's gonna be tough to keep enlarging the rotations if MLB limits roster sizes, total number of pitchers, and the total number of times minor leaguers can be optioned.
