Clutch doesn't push hard. He simply has a more logical take on the game. Once he lets his thoughts known, he doesn't flood the gates with it. The only reason why he seems like he "pushes" is because folks who want to disagree try to be louder and constantly bombard him with their takes. And yes he's more about being the prove it to me type which clearly isn't the wrong way of doing things.

Should be a quitting clause. Everytime he walks off or leaves at half time. Throws a tantrum. Refuses to sub in and out he should lose $5million

It's more than one instance. All I can remember about Porter from last year besides the game he quit and left at half time is this game below. I was at this game wondering wtf are we doing. Felt like Silas had no control over his own team and I really thought he shoulda been fired after this foolishness. Just watch this amazing sequence by Porter after he asked to come out..

$15-20M is probably market value for a player with his stats, but it is not market value for KPJ. Most of the guys getting paid in that range got their payday in their mid- to-late 20s. They mostly started with limited minutes and slowly built their game until the team trusted them. KPJ has serious baggage issues and he got thrown onto a team just as they were tearing it all down and massive minutes fell in his lap that helped bolster his raw numbers.

For me, it would be understandable if the Rockets wanted to extend him for 3 years in the single-digit millions until he proves himself worth a large contract. The Rockets have no reason to offer him what his agents say is market value right now. If they are going to pay "market value", wait until he hits restricted free agency and let the market set the price. Then decide if you want to pay it or not.

Thank you for posting that. I remember watching it live now because of the broadcast commentary jogging my memory. This is when I soured on kpj. Wish him the best but the chances that he is a championship type player is slim in my humble opinion.

He's not a scrub like Tate, he'd be absolutely insane to not be outright offended at an offer that was only 7 figures a year. Hell, even only 10 a year is an insult.

There are 25 NBA PG's that make 15 mil a year or more. If the Rockets don't think he's a top 25 NBA PG, he needs to bail....and guys like Green and Smith need to realize that they need to get out as quickly as possible because it would be saying that the Rockets don't value their best players.

The KPJ hate is absolutely absurd, it's causing fans to actively want the Rockets to become the Sacramento Kings.

    20-25 mil/yr for KPJr? LOL

Rockets would be foolish to offer that

They won’t offer him that, but if he balls out this year he will get an offer sheet in that general area. I think they will extend him in the 15m area, hopefully less.

Well you certainly don't offer that right now....but if you can't get him to sign this off-season, he'll definitely be getting at least that next year.

That's why you do all you can to get him signed for something like 15-18 mil now rather than waiting.

Really? You think teams will be offering him and all his baggage and BS 20/year?

If he plays like he did after the all star break with no incidents, hell yes they will be offering that. Look what that midget Brunson got for about 1/2 year of decent play. All KPJ has to do is keep his nose clean and he is going to make a lot of money. That is why the Rockets are trying to get a team friendly deal right now.

It's not hate, it's just reality. Tate is a borderline scrub, but he doesn't have the history that KPJ has. Dude has got some serious skills, but he fell to #30 for a reason. And he has backed it up the past few years.

Of those 25 PG's in the league, how many of them were making $15M before they were 25? If any of them were, they were likely a top 5 pick.

I would love to see KPJ do well and earn that money with the Rockets, but in my eyes, he's still got to do exactly that... earn it. He has still got some maturity issues that he has got to prove are in his past.

Nobody is in a better position to assess KPJ’s maturity than the Rockets’ FO. I don’t know what they are offering as an extension, but it would be very telling on how they feel about the mental aspects. If they don’t get the extension done, we may never know.

Brunson was a solid contributor for a playoff team. Shot 50% from the field and mid 80s from the line. Still an overpay. But he balled out on a team that was competitive. What the heck has KPJ ever won? If dude stops being a head case and starts scoring efficiently, he might earn a big paycheck. And if my aunt had different equipment, shed be my uncle.

I’m a KPJ nut rider but 188max lol

It’s hard to get a vibe on how the organization really feels about him but he better have us close to a play in game if he wants 20-25. Boy better ball his ass out asking for that much
