I’m going to continue to go through all the studio albums of Siouxsie and the Banshees along with PiL (which I started yesterday): Siouxsie and the Banshees - Join Hands Public Image Ltd - Metal Box
Siouxsie and the Banshees - A Kiss in the Dreamhouse Public Image Ltd - Compact Disc aka Album So far, after 5 studio albums for both of these post-punk legends, I would have to rate PiL’s albums in order of best to worst - Metal Box, The Flowers of Romance, First Issue, Album, and This Is What You Want… Siouxsie’s albums ranked in order of best to worst - The Scream, Juju, A Kiss in the Dreamhouse, Kaleidoscope, and Join Hands. Once Jah Wobble left, PiL only made 1 truly great album in The Flowers of Romance. This Is What You Want is a dreadful mess. Join Hands is not that bad but can’t compare to their other 4 early albums.
Respectfully disagree. I think there's some great stuff on "This is What You Want". Yes it's quite a departure from the earlier stuff..it's different..but it's good in a different way.
It’s cool - there are some good tracks but it just doesn’t have the weirdness or brilliance of what came before it. I probably shouldn’t have called it dreadful but it’s the one PiL album that I play the least.
Had to double back and listen to the whole album, but love it when a song and a mood come together for a moment.
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Superstition Public Image Ltd - This Is PiL I got one album each left and I will be done. I am going to move on to the great Elvis Costello (20 albums) starting tomorrow.
