Why do gay men get a pass?

I see you're upset because you feel there was a double standard regarding a trans female spewing hateful stuff. Not going to deny there might but again we've had straight white males do similar stuff and also reveal they were doing so because they were self-medicating and dealing with a dark time. I think that is more the issue than whether there is some sort of double standard.

I think if TheJuice had just been posting nothing but hateful negative stuff he probably would've been banned quicker and/or there would've been a big CF.net sluething proving she wasn't actually trans. TheJuice admitted she was in a dark place and many of her post seemed calm and she also reached out to several posters.

It could all be an elaborate troll job but showing some compassion on a BBS cost nothing but some time that would've been spent on some other distraction anyway.

 

I don't know how many of the current posters in this thread were here back in 2011 but a Clutchfan did kill himself.

He had been posting some eratic things in the months before that and had been in a very dark place with his family.

I never met him in person and knew nothing more about him than what he was posting on Clutchfans. His death practically had no affect on my life. That said if we consider this a community this was still sad that one of our own felt so down that they ended their own life. From that if someone is reaching out for help even on something like a BBS board I think putting up with some drunken offensive posts is a very small sacrifice if we can help them.

 

I don't blame you but I also get that you and TheJuice were engaged in a heavy back and forth. You said you also tried to take your life a few years ago so I think you understand what it means to be in a dark place.

 

You’re a broken record. Some lenience for people who really appear to be suicidal and struggling psychologically is fine. They provided enough reason to be convinced of that in this case.
