That does not make Bell good. Watch Yuli and Bell both play, the defensive metrics are not as good as your eyes.
Mancini rumors heating up too. Would love Trey in Htown, but honestly idc about his baseball performance, more in tune with his cancer story.
The difference between a 650 ops and 900 ops is greater than any value (questionable) Yuli brings to the table at 1B imo. They certainly wouldn’t be trading for Bell to do anything other than play him everyday.
Lets say its Josh Bell and T.J. White For Whitley and Cerny And we turn and offer Garcia, Leon, Soloman, Duban and Perez for Castillo and Jackson Miller This leaves us a chance to make one more trade and for a future spot. So the Question is Would you trade Odorizzi and Maton to the Cards for Alec Burleson, Zach Thompson and Moises Gomes
Maybe. Yet last year he had good numbers. I don’t trust my eyes. People that do kept giving Jeter gold gloves. Maybe 1B doesn’t count for whatever reason.
I’d trade Odo and Maton for anything of value. I have no opinion on what that might be in the Cardinals system.
This Alec Burleson Kid is gonna be a stud I really hope we can nab him and bring him to get some time in LF.
Leon should be pretty untouchable for anything other than Soto. He is five tool cf. He ain’t going anywhere.
I have no opinion on Josh Bells defense. I’ve seen him play probably less than a. Half a dozen times. His numbers were **** and they’ve improved pretty solidly this year. I like Yuli. His numbers have gotten worse defensively. His offensive numbers have gotten a lot worse. It’s not unbelievable to think that age has gotten him on both ends. I wouldn’t presume to know. You might. I don’t.
He's not good. Yuli is very, very good. You get Bell to replace ABs at DH, rotating with DH, LF, and 1B, and because Uncle Mike may not come back at full strength. This is why they want him, no ****?!? I want him too.
Trey has solid numbers offensively, but the biggest takeaway is his expected home runs are much higher than his actual home runs, because Camden Yards is absolutely brutal for righties with the new renovations in left field. He would feast on the Crawford Boxes.
Your saying Josh Bell is not good? If so you might wanna get those eyes checked he is absolutely doing way better on a much worse team in all aspects of the game . Yuli has been slowly going down hill since the season started. His DEF isn't the worse he does still play above average. But he should be doing better overall. As they say he me need to be taken behind the barn and put down. Sure he is a club house guy I get that. But he is getting very long in the tooth
Love Yuli and he's a big reason the Stros seem to have a pipeline to Cuban players. The Gurriel family is royalty there. With this said, Yuli's been really bad this year. I think it goes back to him becoming a father earlier this year.
I don't know? He started out the season hot then came back after maternity leave and fell off of a cliff.
Refusing to trade for Josh Bell because of Yuli's "amazing" defense at first is a firable offense. Yuli's not playing Shortstop, Center Field, or Catcher, where superior defense more than makes up for a sub-par (85 OPS) bat. He's playing first base. You can't afford sub-part first baseman production when you have question marks in center field and one of the worst offensive catchers in baseball behind the plate, with a rookie backing him up. That, and people here act like Josh Bell is the Black Adam Dunn at first, when most defensive metrics show he's an average-mediocre fielder. Compared to Yuli this season: Hell, going by Defensive Runs Saved and Outs Above Average, Bell's been better than Gurriel at first! Do I even have to mention we gain 100 points of on base percentage and nearly 200 points of OPS? Having a cooked Pina batting in the postseason when he wasn't that great of a hitter before losing his bat speed (.687 career postseason OPS) is malpractice. We don't need another starting pitcher when we already don't have enough room in the rotation to promote our top prospect.
