Care to elaborate how easy it is to get massive supplies of artillery to a warzone?

Ukraine already is using US Harpoon anti-ship missiles

So you're then willing to put NATO forces under threat of Russian artillery and risk a significant escalation in this war. Even though you don't know what the strategic goa
[The "Iron Dome" is a anti-Rocket system developed and deployed by Israel so it would be up to the Israelis to provide something like that. Further it is designed to stop the relatively primitive and small rockets used by Hezbollah and Hamas but not sure how it would perform against the larger and more advanced missiles the Russians are using.

That said the US is already planning to send advanced anti-missile systems to Ukraine.

the same way you got existing artillery to Ukraine? I'm no logistics expert, but this is what the US Army excels at, from the time of the civil war.

I was not disputing the intelligence. as per the above, Ukraine needs moar anti-ship missiles.

this is my war, not Joe's. yes, I am, they're there for behind the lines support. if the Russians choose to fire on them, excrement could occur.

    I'm aware. Moar please.

So all your suggestions are just "moar please". With the exception of we should put NATO troops where they can be hit by Russian artillery.

    Fair enough.

No one is visibly pointing fingers at us now even as the Eurozone melts down.

We'll see how happy the family is at the hint of snow.

    essentially.

with a sentient CIC, I'd imagine some messaging might accompany the latter.

Look, Putin is counting on the west's desire for his oil, but no one is talking about his need to sell the stuff to the west. It is a symbiotic relationship.

If NATO were to enter now, Russia would get creamed - I don't believe Russia will launch nukes, they know that if they do the world ends.....but I think NATO could and probably SHOULD push Russia out, and then tell Putin to back off or we are coming for him....

He is a paper tiger, he doesn't have the ability to fight against a more powerful foe and his people don't like him, even though they pretend to so they don't get killed.

And, if not a NATO strike, then I would be 100% behind as many assassination attempts on Putin as it takes.

Even if NATO somehow got away with Putin not launching nukes with an invasion into Russia, the next despot would not be half as dumb letting the US park at their doorstep.

Some people just can't want to break that seal.

I think until Russia is a free republic, and not a despotic government the world will not be safe. Patton was right we should have gone in during WW2....

Russia post WWII is not the same as modern Russia. Going into Russia now would go over as well with Russians as Arabs invading Texas.

Likewise, some folks are just so jaded from the Middle East they are willingly to let a true adversary keep taking what it wants through their own naivety.

Just because Iraq and Afghanistan were geopolitical blunders, doesn't mean this is.

Or they can just leave Ukraine and move to Russia?

Ukraine isn't going to just partition off its country after Russia bombed its cities, killed its civilians, and raped its women......

I don't follow... this is what Russia has historically done through the last several centuries, take over it's neighbors for their resources and to use as a buffer.

@KingCheetah: @basso and I went down to Lockheed's and I showed them my coupon which said Monday 4-6 PM was 20% off "Iron Dome or equivalent" with qualifying purchase and they refused to honor the deal saying it was invalid

    Any advice?

I'm down for things going "smoothly". I just don't see Ukrainians coming out as winners as time passes.

Talk is cheap once people's bottom lines are crossed. Europe, US, Ukraine, Russia all have their own.

As for the bolded bits, if Russia can be held accountable to the lengths you're presenting, I'll buy you a drink or donate to Clutch.

Hopes are nice, but I wouldn't bank too much on them.

The BUFFER argument is bullshit they just want more resources........nothing more than that, territory and resources.....we need to assassinate Putin or take the war to his doorstep.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, I just think standing up to Russia is important and worthwhile.

More than likely, Russia will just hold a fake referendum in the fall in the place(s) it took and just claim it's part of Russia. Ukraine won't officially attack it but it will not be a very stable place. Crimea 2.0

Russia certainly prepared for sanctions financially and is effectively using energy and grain to wage the larger global economic war to prevent most of the globe from cutting it off. The timing of the Ukraine invasion was pretty shrewd as energy and agricultural was pretty volatile.

It's not "bullshit" but it's also not a justification to invade Ukraine.

We aren't going to war unless he attacks NATO, which he clearly won't. We aren't going to assassinate him, but maybe someone in his circle will.

It is bullshit when they control those countries.....that is not a buffer, it is just a bigger Russia.

Provide The Airpower Ukraine Needs To Win Now

Time is not on Ukraine’s side. The West's current strategy guarantees a long, drawn-out stalemate. But airpower could change the balance of the Russia/Ukraine war and the U.S. and NATO have the means to help Ukraine change the course of the conflict.

After initial success defending against invading Russian forces around Kiev earlier this year, Ukraine is now caught up in an unrelenting ground war of attrition. Left in this force-on-force competition, Ukraine will struggle to hold the line, let alone reverse battlefield losses. Innocent civilians will continue to die under criminal and intentionally brutal Russian attacks.

The stakes go well beyond Europe. Precedents set in this war will reverberate, especially when it comes to China and its illegal actions in the Pacific. It is time to pursue a new approach, one that capitalizes on airpower to achieve a combat advantage over the Russians significant enough to turn the tide of the war.
